Education is the road to freedom of the mind. The more we learn, the freer and more confident we become. This thought is the founding Motto of Stanford University, one of the premier institutions for higher education globally. The German phrase, ‘Die Luft der Freiheit weht’, roughly translates to "The wind of freedom blows" which is the University’s official guiding motto.

Founded in 1885 by California senator Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane, Stanford provides academic excellence across a broadest array of disciplines. The educational stalwart strongly believes in creating and sharing knowledge. The objective is to prepare students to be curious, to think critically, and to contribute to the world.

Since its inception in late 19th century to today’s modern era, Stanford has given to the world countless scholars who have been instrumental in reshaping the world as we know it. From world leaders in politics, business, technology, sports and philanthropy, Standford’s alumni form some of the most influential individuals across the globe.
