It is no secret that India's traditional higher education systems have their own limitations for equipping students for such an elite level of international competition, barring a few exceptions, of course. There is a dire need to produce global citizens, entrepreneurs with broader visions, and candidates with skills beyond expectations. A bit harsh? Well, let's look at some simple statistics. Around fifteen lakh engineering students graduate in India from engineering colleges across the country. Only 2.5 lakh of them get relevant jobs in technical domains. Even in that substratum, a major wedge of them is underpaid.
Vellore Institute of Technology, a private research deemed university located in Katpadi in Vellore, India, is an exception. Over the decades, the institute has been exceptional in producing top-tier employable graduates and entrepreneurs. This year is no exception, as 184 VITians from the 2023 graduating batch have already received Pre-Placement offers. Two students among them, Amit Agarwal and Sarthak Bharadwaj, have received an offer of 1.02 crore for each annual salary package in the campus placement. Motorq, a venture backed connected car data, and analytics software platform company, has hired the final year Computer Science Engineering students after the duo did their summer internship at MotorQ.

Established in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by G. Viswanathan, the institution offers 66 Under graduate, 58 Postgraduate, 15 Integrated, 2 Research, and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programmes. The institution has grown over the decades to have an additional campus in Chennai and sister universities in Amaravati and Bhopal.
