If you have ever watched the Hollywood movie Good Will Hunting (1998), you could never forget Sean Maguire (which was portrayed by Robin Williams), the 56-year-old Caucasian professor, who turns around the life of a genius, but wayward youngster (the protagonist) by finding the key to his mind and his heart, and unlocking his real potential. In fact, we all could use a Sean Maguire in our lives to discover who we really are and in turn evolve in life with self-awareness.
It’s no wonder life coaching is the second fastest-growing industry in the world with an average yearly growth of more than 6 percent, according to several reports. It’s also amazing the way the strength of the industry has grown stronger over the past five years. Globally, the number of life coaches went up by 33 percent from 2016 to 2020. Statistically, Latin America and the Caribbean region showed the most growth with a 174 percent increase while Eastern Europe was in second place at 40 percent (according to various studies).

While the industry is growing at such a swift pace, it’s important that we have life coaches who rebel the norms of predefined life coaching paradigms by doing a ‘Sean Maguire’ to the entire corporate realm and individuals to change, transform, and become the best version of themselves. Going forward, it is expected that coaches specializing in niche sectors will see more employment opportunities on average than coaches who don’t specialize. In this issue, we are turning the spotlight to a bunch of leaders in the segment, who have been inspirational with their approach.
