UK - India Partnership Transitioning into A New Phase of Strategic & Economic Partnership

The story of Indian enterprise in the UK began decades ago, as generations of Indians migrated in search of better opportunities, bringing with them entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and a strong work ethic. What started with small family-run businesses has evolved into a powerful network of global enterprises that are helping shape the UK's economic future.

Today, Indian business leaders are playing an increasingly important role in the UK's economy, expanding businesses while deepening commercial ties between the two nations. Across industries such as technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and hospitality, Indian-owned companies are contributing to economic growth through investment, innovation and job creation. The latest India Meets Britain Tracker reports that 1,912 Indian-owned businesses now operate in the UK, generating over £105 billion in combined revenue and supporting more than 203,000 jobs. Meanwhile, UK–India trade reached £47.4 billion in 2025, reflecting the strength of a partnership that continues to grow and create new opportunities for both countries.

In conversation with CEOInsights magazine, Dr. Kishore Jayaraman, Group Chief Executive Officer, UK India Business Council shed light on the current state of India-UK partnership. He said, “The UK–India partnership is moving into a new phase of strategic and economic depth. In the latest data, the bilateral trade in goods and services reached £44.1 billion in the four quarters to the end of Q1 2025, with UK exports to India at £17.5 billion and UK imports from India at £26.6 billion.”

In light of the significant contribution being made by Indian business leaders in the UK, the CEOInsights India magazine highlights Top 10 Indian Leaders in the UK.

One of the featured leaders is Vasu Bonda.
