Anuroop M, Co-Founder and CEO of Avench Systems Pvt Ltd, has dedicated over 22 years to the field of embedded systems. He brings 15 years of experience in creating and developing firmware and software at the chip level.

Being a leader presents a challenging path that demands steadfast dedication and unlimited vitality. It involves extended work periods, concentrated attention, and carrying the burden of accountability. For leaders to achieve genuine excellence, they must focus on managing their energy through consistent personal care routines. Physical activity and nutritious eating habits are vital for sustaining energy reserves. Adequate rest is fundamental for mental clarity and effective decision-making. Research demonstrates that physical exercise serves a critical function in boosting both bodily and psychological energy, allowing leaders to motivate their workforce, make wise choices, and face obstacles with steady resolve.

You have more than 20 years of professional experience. What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your journey so far?
Having spent 22 years in the embedded software sector, I consider myself fortunate to have entered the field during its peak, which opened up numerous opportunities for me. Since there was no one to direct me, I had to figure everything out through trial and error. This approach made much more sense to me than joining a large multinational corporation and learning from a more experienced individual, because the insights gained from making mistakes and learning quickly provide a different level of understanding when viewed over time.

I am naturally curious and enjoy exploring options until I find the right fit. My experience with several startups has informed my decision-making. Participating in a campus interview led me to a larger company, which has significantly influenced my career path.

You are also a Martial Artist. How has this mindset rooted in physical and mental fitness helped you in your professional journey?
My fascination with martial arts began early in life, sparked by the 1990s films. I started practicing karate in the fourth grade and achieved my first-degree black belt by the ninth grade, at which point I transitioned into teaching. As I advanced, I gained knowledge about pressure points, circulation, and energy channels, which enhanced my understanding of the relationship between physical and mental wellness. This path inspired me to investigate how the nervous and endocrine systems affect emotions and overall health.

Using techniques like breathing exercises and yoga, I tested various approaches to comprehend their effects on my physical state and emotions and found that hormones significantly influence emotional regulation, including how cortisol levels increase during stressful periods, potentially impacting general wellness.
Critical components include rest, physical activity, and diet. Managing these elements can maximize both physical and mental functioning. Sustained high energy levels are impossible without adequate self-care, and recognizing your body's requirements is crucial for stress management.

How can modern-day entrepreneurs stay fit within their busy schedules? What would you recommend?
Martial art practice requires commitment. Just thirty minutes daily is all that's required. Through effective prioritization, you might discover improved well-being. Each day provides you with 24 hours. Every one of these hours can be managed effectively. The entrepreneurial path can stretch considerably without proper rest and self-care. Success isn't about achieving results for several years only to burn out completely. That's certainly not the right method. You should instead view your life like a long-distance race. This suggests a sustained, long-range dedication.

Consequently, self-discipline becomes vital. Adequate sleep time must be reserved, as it's fundamental for restoration. Furthermore, improving your sleep quality can boost recovery while providing sufficient time for physical activity. Just thirty minutes of daily exercise should resolve most issues—only half an hour. This demonstrates why prioritization matters so much; we all have the same 24 hours. Your time allocation choices become critical, particularly when pursuing long-term objectives. This rule has no exemptions.

Discipline is crucial, whether it pertains to physical exercise, sleep, or your work habits; it holds great importance

How would you define your leadership approach within Avench?
I genuinely enjoy collaborating with others, and I prioritize the objective or goal over the chosen plan. If I were to devise a plan to achieve a particular goal, and my team members proposed a superior plan for the same objective, I would opt for their plan. My focus is on reaching the goal rather than adhering to my own plan. I prefer to encourage my team to make commitments and strive to fulfill them, rather than imposing commitments upon them. Furthermore, a fundamental aspect of my work is my acceptance of mistakes; however, I cannot tolerate a lack of transparency. Honesty and open communication are values I hold in high regard, and I practice them consistently. I strive to maintain transparency in all interactions, as it facilitates easier management.

What is your advice for the budding Industry Leaders?
Each individual possesses a unique working style; however, I am confident that if you aspire to gain long-term entrepreneurial experience, it is essential to cultivate discipline and empathy. These two qualities must be integrated into your approach. Discipline is crucial, whether it pertains to physical exercise, sleep, or your work habits; it holds great importance. Additionally, empathy towards individuals and their challenges, including customers, is vital. You must strive to comprehend the reasons behind their issues, the origins of these problems, and how they experience them. Once you grasp this understanding, you will be better equipped to identify their pain points and address them effectively. I firmly believe these are the two fundamental attributes every entrepreneur should possess.
