In India the Vacuum sector has been witnessing a sustained growth of above 17 percent year on year since a decade on account of technological innovations. The pandemic has further highlighted the importance of Metallized Packaging, a major user of Vacuum Technology. Customers increasingly are insisting on hygienic Metallized packaging of food items on account of hygiene, easy disinfection after buying and increased shelf life. In addition to food packaging, the high tech Engineering sector and Defence sector are also major users of Vacuum applications. But the situation was not so favorable a few years back, most of the equipment was imported, and there were no reliable manufacturers and suppliers of vacuum products in India. Envisaging this gap, Anshuman Punj (Founder CEO, Supervac Industries LLP) took a marvelous step of establishing the foundation of Supervac Industries LLP that was not only able to cater significantly to the vacuum equipment industry in India but started an undying revolution across the country by manufacturing vacuum consumables indigenously. Today, under the guidance of Anshuman who holds more than 17 years of experience in the Vacuum Industry, Supervac has emerged as a highly successful Indian company that manufactures and supplies vacuum consumables to a large number of customers around the world in 37 countries. Below is an excerpt of Anshuman’s interview with CEO Insights.

What keeps you motivated as an industry leader? What is your success mantra?
We drive my motivation primarily from the fact that we as a company have always felt extremely responsible to our customers. Today, we have a customer base across the globe. Users in any country can buy our products from anywhere and it’s a promise that they won’t be disappointed. The faith they put in us motivates us to deliver quality and continuously improve our products as an industry leader. To meet expectations of our valued customers, we keep trying to innovate and deliver better products faster at reasonable rates.

Rather than waiting for the change that we wish to see across the industry, we are eager to take the necessary steps to be the change. Our success mantra Quality on time every time.

Define Supervac Industries LLP as an organization and its current position in the industry?
Supervac continues to be a very professional organization that is very young at heart, weare an organization of innovation as a culture. Every organization reflects the personality of its leader. Being an Engineer and inventor myself, I have always tried to keep Supervac technology driven company that encompasses and creates cutting edge technology. Though young at heart we follow a very system driven approach for servicing our customers. Apart from reaching customers across every nook and corner of India, we are currently exporting our products in 37 countries around the world. Ranked as one of the top manufacturers of vacuum equipment at a global level, we manufacture products that cater to almost every vertical of the Vacuum industry and they have been able to make their distinguished identity across the world.

Give a brief account of your products portfolio, pricing and on what basis the quality is determined?
Our products can be divided into three categories and the first is Vacuum oil. A lot of industries like packaging industry, automobile industry drugs and pharma ceutical industry, steel manufacturing, glass manufacturing, and many more, require vacuum in their day-to-day operations, so vacuum oil is required by them. To cater to such a vast industry demand, we make almost a hundred different kinds of vacuum oils.Our second innovative product is composite ceramics. These high technology ceramics heat up to a temperature of 1500C from room temperature in less than five minutes. Called Evaporation Boats these are used to heat and evaporate metals. We also manufacture high temperature coatings which can withstand temperatures up to 3000 degrees centigrade. These are widely used in Defence and Demanding Industrial Applications.

We also make high technology Graphite Products. Graphite Suspension which is used as a lubricating and protective coating and Graphite Tape which is made by a patented technology of Exfoliation. This is used in applications requiring flow of very high current.

A very large scale production and operation at a global level gives us a pricing advantage. To maintain our reputation as an ace manufacturer of vacuum equipment, we have understood that we can never compromise with the quality of our products and that’s where we have always emphasized on. We have all major quality certifications, ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment Management System), OHSAS18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), SA 8000 (Social Accountability System), and more. We are also certified by the Quality Council of India as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Germany as fit for a partnership with German Companies for quality. Biggest testimonial of quality however remains trust of our valued customers since years on us.

What would be your advice to the entrepreneurs starting anew in this industry?
Entrepreneurship is quite an important decision irrespective of the industry you are focused on because the rules to succeed as an entrepreneur remain the same for everyone. My advice for budding entrepreneurs will be to have a long term vision for the company. Also emphasis should be on building a team rather than wearing many hats by the entrepreneur.

Anshuman Punj, CEO, Supervac Industries LLP
Anshuman holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, M. Tech in Tool Design and Manufacturing, and an MBA with specialization in Logistics and Materials Management. Before plunging into entrepreneurship, Anshuman was a Director with Indian Railways where he worked as a Class 1 officer for 18 years after clearing Indian Engineering Services. Prior to entering bureaucracy he has worked as an Industrial consultant and also worked at various management positions in the private sector in companies like Eicher Goodearth, Modi Xerox and Hero Motors. Anshuman is an inventor, a keen Technical Blogger and an author of the famous book 'Vacuum Technology Simplified'.
