Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer

The finance industry has always stood at the heart of economic progress, directing capital toward innovation, enterprise and sustainable growth. In an increasingly complex and fastmoving global economy, investment leaders play a critical role in navigating uncertainty, preserving wealth, and identifying opportunities that generate longterm value.

Among them, Chief Investment Officers occupy one of the industry's most influential positions, balancing rigorous research with disciplined decision making to deliver consistent outcomes for investors. Beyond managing portfolios, they shape investment philosophies, build resilient strategies and instill confidence through prudent risk management and unwavering focus on long-term performance.

Among this new generation of investment leaders is Mayank Mamania, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Mavira AMC, whose professional journey reflects a blend of technical expertise, disciplined investing, and entrepreneurial vision.

A qualified Chartered Accountant since 2016, Mayank built a strong foundation in financial analysis before deepening his understanding of capital markets through a postgraduate diploma in finance from Welingkar Institute, Mumbai. His interest in investing evolved from studying businesses, tracking markets, and conducting equity research, gradually developing into a passion for identifying long-term value through disciplined investing.

His earliest lessons in investing came from his uncle and mentor, CA Jayant Mamania, who introduced him to the fundamentals of the profession. The principle that has continued to guide his career is simple yet profound: for a fund manager, returns remain the ultimate measure of success, achieved through consistent processes, patience, and disciplined execution.

In 2017, Mayank partnered with Vijesh Shah and Raja Shah to establish MAVIRA, an investment platform named after the initials of its three founders. Beginning with a Registered Investment Adviser(RIA) licence, the firm successfully advised high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and corporates across varying market environments.
A defining milestone came in 2024 with the launch of the Mavira Growth Opportunities Fund a Category III Alternative Investment Fund that marked the firm's evolution into institutional fund management. Today, managing over ₹520 crore in assets, Mavira AMC continues to embody Mayank Mamania's commitment to research-driven investing, disciplined portfolio management, and long-term wealth creation.

I believe investment management is fundamentally a people business built on trust, integrity, and shared values

Markets are often influenced by both economic fundamentals and investor sentiment. How do you distinguish between short-term volatility and long-term value creation opportunities?

I distinguish market noise by focusing on businesses rather than stock prices. Our investment framework allows us to closely follow companies across their growth journey, giving us a deeper understanding of management quality execution, and operational performance.

When sentiment weakens despite improving fundamentals, we see opportunity; when valuations become disconnected from reality, we exercise caution. Markets may fluctuate in the short term, but business performance ultimately drives long-term value. Viewing investments as ownership in businesses instead of trading instruments helps us remain disciplined and focused on sustainable wealth creation.

In today's evolving financial landscape, what qualities do you believe are essential for building resilient and sus- tainable investment port- folios?

I believe independent thinking is the foundation of successful investing. The best opportunities are often identified before they become market consensus. Equally important is patience, but it must be supported by rigorous research rather than optimism alone.

Our investment in the KP Group demonstrated that significant wealth creation requires conviction sustained over several years. Investors who remain disciplined, think independently, and stay focused on business fundamentals instead of short-term market sentiment are better equipped to build resilient portfolios that generate sustainable long-term returns.

How do you see technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics trans -forming the future of the asset management industry?

Technology is fundamentally reshaping asset management. At MAVIRA, we actively integrate AI into research and client
communication, enabling us to analyse larger datasets while allowing our team to focus on judgement, conviction, and engagement with business leaders.

At the same time, rapid technological advancements are creating exciting investment opportunities across sectors such as AI, semiconductors, data centres, and digital infrastructure. Data analytics also enhances transparency, strengthens risk management, and improves investor communication, making it an invaluable tool for building both performance and long-term trust.

Strong institutions are built on people, values, and processes. How do you foster a culture of accountability and high performance within your organisation?

I believe investment management is fundamentally a people business built on trust, integrity, and shared values. We foster accountability through transparent communication, disciplined decision-making, and a meritocratic culture that encourages independent thinking. Beyond our internal team, we are building an institution that aligns employees, investors, advisors, and partners around long-term objectives.

As Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer, what long-term impact do you hope Mavira AMC will have on India's financial ecosystem, and what legacy would you like to leave behind?

My vision is for MAVIRA to bridge a critical funding gap by providing patient, research-driven equity capital to promising businesses in the ₹200–2,000 crore market cap segment. By supporting these companies, we aim to drive innovation, employment, and long-term economic growth while creating sustainable wealth for investors.

Over the next five years, I aspire to establish MAVIRA among India's most respected Alternative Investment Funds, recognised for performance, governance, and research excellence. Ultimately, I hope to leave behind an enduring institution that continues empowering entre- preneurs and contributing meaning -fully to India's growth story for decades to come.
