In an exclusive interview with CEO INSIGHTS, Chiranjeev talks more about his professional journey and the unique business operations of Premier Energies.
Give us a brief detail about your educational background and professional background. Share us the inception story of your company and what inspired you to establish Premier Energies?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. I have been a Director on board for over 10 companies in the Solar Manufacturing and IPP space and the All India Solar Industries Association(AISIA). I am a member of the Governing Council of Indian Solar Manufacturers Association (ISMA) and one of India's 100 Most Influential Solar Business Leaders, my experiences have helped me immensely in driving Premier Energies from 5 MW production capacity in 1995 to 750 MW Solar Cell and 1250 MW Solar Module in 2021 and we've built over 650+ MW of EPC and 130 MW of IPP projects.
What are various services provided by Premier Energies? What is your flagship service?
We are proud to be one of India's leading solar module manufacturing company offering a broad spectrum of photovoltaic products, ranging
from Polycrystalline Silicon Solar cells to Mono PERC and Polycrystalline Solar PV module. We provide customized services specific to the needs through Services offered by Premiere Energies include a) Rooftop: The rooftop installations optimize space for solar energy conversion at commercial buildings, industries, and residential properties. It helps you reduce electricity costs to create long term savings, b)Ground mounted: On the ground, the panels can be pointed in the optimal direction for good sun exposure, which makes it the most easy and cost-effective solution c)Water Pumps: Solar powered pumps can replace the regular pumping systems and can be used to irrigate crops, portable drinking water or water live stock. It is easy to install with low maintenance or fuel cost d)Remote Village Electrification: Electrified over 500+ remote and inaccessible habitants and tandas in states of Telangana, AP, MP, UP with solar power. These are the villages which had no access to electricity and it was not economically viable to provide conventional power. This effort was recognized and we were awarded International Solar Project of the year by renewable energy world in USA, and e) Diverse Projects: to deliver some of the most innovative solutions across the country like Canal top and canal bank, Asbestos shed & parking structures, Floating solar solutions, Tracker & Hybrid solutions etc.
What are the short term, long term goals of your organization and what are the steps taken to achieve those goals?
As a company, we strive to be among the top employers of choice in the renewable energy space by 2025. Our vision is to be an impactful global leader in creating sustainable renewable energy solutions that contribute to a cleaner air and a greener world, and our mission is to be one among the top 3 brands in the industry for solar manufacturing and EPC by 2023 by focusing on quality and reliable energy solutions.
We aim to become one of the top players in India, with a strong overseas presence in the next 3 years. Our manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad are spread 3,00,000 sq feet. We aim to forge partnerships with leading global players with a view to work closely in helping solve the climate change crisis, by providing sustainable, clean energy solutions.

'the solar power value chain. How did you manage to achieve this feat?
We have been producing modules since 1995 and our modules have used in various applications like ground mount, rooftops, solar pumping system, floating solar, canal top projects etc. Also, thanks to our loyal customers that our products are well accepted in India as well as exported to 30 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa & North America. We expect the performance will increase significantly as we have put up a new advanced cell & module line recently,which is capable of handling various cell sizes i.e. M2, G1, M4, M6, M9, M10 & M12.
What are the unique benefits that can be expected from Premier Energies compared to your competitors?
The major benefit would be 750MW Cell & Module line facility which has a Universal Texturing line which can produce, poly, mono, mono PERC, and Bifacial modules interchangeably. The machinery can accommodate new technology like Topcon. The Plant is unique with state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced automated machinery operating on the latest technology available in India. With this we will be at par with some of the leading manufacturing companies in Asia, Europe, and USA, producing world-class products and that makes us the second largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India.
How has been the growth of company since its inception and what is the future roadmap?
Premier Energies has evolved from a 5 MW production capacity in 1995 to 750 MW Solar Cell and 1250 MW Solar Module in 2021 and we've built over 650+ MW of EPC and 130 MW of IPP projects. We plan to set up a 1,400 MW cell line and1,000 MW module line with capex investment of about Rs 1,000 crore, which will be commissioned by June 2022. This will take our total capacity to about 2,150-MW cell and 2,250-MW module line.
