How would you define your academic journey at Loyola College?

My experiences at Loyola College were truly foundational and memorable. Though I initially aimed to pursue a doctorate in chemistry, personal reasons
limited me to a Master’s degree. Loyola, however, shaped me into a true professional, preparing me to face the external world with confidence.

The diverse peer group, vibrant student community, and exposure to different cultures and perspectives enriched my learning. Moreover, the freedom to participate in extracurricular and leadership activities instilled in me the ability to take initiative and drive outcomes, qualities that have stayed with me throughout my career.

Leadership is about taking responsibility, inspiring others, and earning trust, rather than holding a title

What has been the most memorable experience during your time at Loyola College?

While academics at Loyola was going at its own pace with the guiding book from V.V Publications, one of my most memorable experiences at Loyola College was the camaraderie outside academics, sharing time with friends from different parts of the city at snack stops near Choolaimedu and during the short train rides between St Thomas Mount and Nungambakkam and the long walk inside the college campus.

Equally memorable was the accessibility and mentorship of my professors, such as Professor Govindrajan, and Prof Dr A Dayalan who were down-to-earth and genuinely invested in students’ growth. Their guidance, combined with my early grounding in science and later transition to finance, has helped me integrate technical and analytical thinking into my leadership journey.

As a successful industry leader, what key ethics and principles guide your professional life?

My guiding principle is to create value with purpose for people, processes, and the wider community. Leadership, to me, is about taking responsibility, inspiring others, and earning trust, rather than holding a title. Focus on people first, own the problems, execute with clarity, and uphold integrity and ethics. Setting and achieving short-, medium-, and long-term goals while adhering to these principles creates lasting impact. The best of me as I feel is the humility and willingness to learn. I listen and I own.

How do you mentor and guide your team members to support their professional and personal growth?
I approach mentoring without hierarchy; my team can always reach out for support. By working closely with them, I understand their needs and proactively suggest opportunities, such as sponsoring relevant certifications or guiding them through projects. I handhold them as needed to ensure they succeed.

Earlier in my career, I also managed training portfolios, conducting domain, technology, or functionality-related sessions. Teaching is a passion for me, as it reinforces my own learning when faced with tricky questions, I research and learn alongside my team. Coaching and continuous learning have been integral to my professional journey.

How do you stay updated on the latest industry and technology trends?

Staying updated with the latest technology and industry developments is challenging, as daily engagements often consume all available time. However, I make an effort to learn whenever possible, through leadership or CIO meetings, professional websites, or handson experience with assigned projects. Technical knowledge, including areas like AI is widely available; it’s a matter of making time to read, understand, and apply it.

What advice would you give to aspiring industry leaders?

Invest continuously in yourself, take ownership of your work, and act with integrity. Always communicate proactively with your executive management, peers and other stakeholders, keep them informed about progress, challenges, and expected timelines. Focus on delivering tangible results that align with organizational goals, and build trust through consistent performance. Growth happens when we start doing things that we are qualified for. Let us work towards qualifying ourselves.
