A B.Tech graduate from Kurukshetra University, now NIT Kurukshetra, and an MBA from IBS Hyderabad, Narayan began his career as a merchant banker, gaining valuable commercial and business-growth experience.
In 2014, he ventured into entrepreneurship through solar energy and later expanded into renewable energy and biofuels. Combining technical expertise with commercial insight, Narayan has focused his journey on developing sustainable solutions that reduce carbon emissions. This vision continues to shape KEC Biofuel’s mission of supporting sustainable development and accelerating the transition toward cleaner energy.
What strategic vision and leadership approach have helped KEC Biofuel build credibility and strengthen its position in the biofuel sector?
We started KEC Biofuel with the objective of bridging critical gaps in the energy sector and making renewable energy projects more accessible to entrepreneurs. We began as a PMC company, supporting developers in addressing challenges from project conceptualization to operations. As we gained deeper industry insights, we expanded into technology transfer, EPC services and turnkey execution.
Today, we provide end-to-end solutions covering the entire journey from concept to commissioning. Our leadership philosophy is rooted in problem-solving, engineering excellence and understanding clients’ requirements. By bringing multiple capabilities under one umbrella, we aim to simplify project development while delivering reliable, commercially viable solutions.
What key milestones have shaped your leadership journey and KEC Biofuel’s evolution as a clean energy solutions provider?
My transition from merchant banking to entrepreneurship was an important milestone in my professional journey. Entering solar energy in 2014 allowed me to combine my technical knowledge with commercial experience and pursue opportunities in a sector with significant long-term potential.
At KEC Biofuel, our evolution from a consultancy-focused company to an integrated clean energy solutions provider has been equally significant. We progressed from PMC services to technology transfer and EPC execution, while strengthening our own technical capabilities. This journey has taught me that sustainable growth comes from continuously identifying industry gaps and transforming them into practical, scalable and commercially viable solutions.
How does KEC Biofuel maintain efficiency, quality and timely execution across its EPC and PMC projects?
We approach every biofuel project through three interconnected areas: backward integration, the core process and forward integration. Our proprietary technologies address critical stages including predigestion, digestion, gas separation, purification, upgradation and impurity removal. We also focus on allied outputs such as FOM, LFOM and CO2 separation to improve overall project value.
Efficiency is fundamental to commercial viability, so we establish clear performance benchmarks across processes. Our “Build It Right” philosophy further strengthens execution. Through detailed planning before implementation, we map engineering requirements, processes and deliverables in advance, enabling us to optimize resources, maintain quality, control costs and meet project timelines.
How is KEC Biofuel strengthening its technical capabilities and project ecosystem to contribute to the global energy transition?
Our focus extends beyond establishing plants; we want to create commercially sustainable value chains around biofuel projects. We strengthen backward and forward integration, beginning with feedstock availability and continuing through production, offtake and end use.

At KEC Biofuel we are also making participation easier for investors through our CBG Park model. It addresses key entry barriers such as land availability feedstock aggregation, offtake and allied-product management within an integrated ecosystem.
I see particularly strong potential for MSMEs and smaller investors. Our objective is to provide business models and technical support that make biofuel projects accessible, efficient and commercially sustainable.

My responsibility is to identify promising geographies, develop viable business models and create opportunities for investors, including MSMEs and smaller entrepreneurs. Our long-term ambition is to reach at least 500 projects and establish approximately 30 CBG Parks by 2030.
Through this growth, we aim to build KEC Biofuel into an engineering and technology driven company contributing meaningfully to decarbonization, energy security and global net-zero objectives.
