Managing Director

India’s corporate leaders today are redefining leadership by blending resilience, adaptability, and purpose-driven growth. In a rapidly evolving business environment shaped by digital transformation global disruptions, and heightened competition, successful Indian leaders are those who combine deep industry knowledge with entrepreneurial courage.

One such leader is Mihir Mishra, Managing Director of Mico Pharma Private Limited, whose journey reflects the grit and determination that define modern Indian entrepreneurship. His professional career began in 2006, immediately after completing his graduation, when he joined his first pharmaceutical company.

Over the next few years, he steadily built his expertise, working across organizations and earning his first promotion as an Area sales Manager in 2008.

His career progression continued through key leadership roles such as Regional Business Manager and Sales Manager, giving him a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sales, market dynamics, and team leadership.

After gaining significant experience with large pharmaceutical companies, Mihir Mishra took a bold entrepreneurial leap. Mico Pharma Private Limited was incorporated on 1st September 2018, marking the beginning of his journey as a business owner. Soon after, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, testing his resolve and belief.

Despite uncertainty and setbacks, he persevered. In late 2020, as conditions stabilized, he launched Mico Pharma’s first product, Micoboost soft gel capsule followed by a steady expansion of the product portfolio in 2021 and 2022. A defining milestone came in 2023 with the acquisition of the well establish brand Immunoboost under MicoPharma.

Today, the company manages 17–18 products and operates across Delhi NCR, Bihar, Odisha, and Punjab- an inspiring testament to resilience, vision, and entrepreneurial leadership in India’s pharmaceutical sector. Let’s hear from him.
What quality control measures have you adopted to deliver the highest standard quality products in the industry?

In the pharmaceutical sector, quality is paramount and cannot be compromised. At Mico Pharma, every product undergoes rigorous quality control procedures. Each manufacturing batch is supported by a detailed Quality Analysis Report (QAR), which verifies the accuracy of ingredients, composition, and dosage as per approved standards.

These reports are carefully reviewed to ensure full compliance and consistency across batches. Recent developments in the industry have further reinforced the need for strict oversight. As a responsible pharmaceutical leader, ensuring the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of products is a core responsibility. Our commitment to stringent quality checks ensures that healthcare professionals and patients receive products they can trust.

My advice to emerging leaders is to stay firmly grounded in the funda mentals - consistency, discipline, and a commitment to lifelong learning

Tell us about your leadership approach. What guidelines or methodologies do you follow as a leader?

My leadership philosophy is rooted in leading by example. I believe a leader should not simply issue instructions but demonstrate the same level of commitment expected from the team.

If the role demands long hours in the field or consistent engagement with doctors, I make it a point to do so myself first. I strongly believe in action before direction, when the team sees dedication and discipline in practice, motivation follows naturally.

True leadership is built on credibility and trust, earned through consistent effort and hands-on involvement rather than authority alone.

How do you keep yourself up-to-date with on going industry trends?

The pharmaceutical industry is constantly evolving, with new molecules, formulations, and treatment approaches emerging regularly. To stay current, I closely follow leading industry publications such as Mint and Medical Today, along with trusted pharmaceutical and medical websites.
I also make it a habit to continuously read and research developments within the sector. What worked a decade ago may no longer be relevant today, so ongoing learning is critical.

Staying informed not only enhances my under standing of market trends but also enables me to make well-in formed strategic decisions that guide the company toward sustainable growth.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?

While Mico Pharma is currently focused on marketing and distribution, manufacturing is a major part of our long-term vision. We have already secured land and industrial facilities, and plans are underway to begin manufacturing one or two molecules by mid year.

Alongside this, we aim to expand our presence into new regions, including Gujarat and parts of South India. International expansion is also on the agenda, with export inquiries already received from African markets.

Our immediate focus is on building manufacturing capabilities, widening our geographic foot print, and entering global markets.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the pharmaceutical industry?

My advice to emerging leaders is to stay firmly grounded in the fundamentals - consistency, discipline, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

The pharmaceutical industry is dynamic, with new therapies, antibiotics, and medical challenges emerging continuously, as highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keeping yourself educated and adaptable is essential to remain relevant and effective. Success in this field is not built overnight; it comes from staying informed, maintaining ethical standards, and consistently applying core principles. Those who invest in knowledge and perseverance are best positioned for sustainable, long-term growth in the industry.
