The following are the highlights from CEO Insights' exclusive interaction with Nasser Arivoli.

Give us a brief detail about your professional background and how has it helped you in your journey so far?
I firmly believe that being a Team player and Teamwork are key drivers for positive results. I greatly emphasize on these aspects due to the extensive experience I have earned while establishing business and my constant interactions with people in international and multicultural environments with diverse backgrounds. These learnings have also aided in being sensitive to client needs and attaining goals through employee participation and collaboration.

An MD of a company directs and control all business operations. What different roles have you been
undertaking at CorobIndia?
At COROB, it has been an interesting journey so far with challenges and opportunities in abundance. The past 15 years have been both satisfying and rewarding. As Head of Sales & Service, I was responsible for stabilizing sales, maintaining/retaining clients through difficult times, and enhancing departmental stability, among other things. It was a monumental task to gain the trust and support of the 200+ Service Engineers who serve as COROB's brand ambassadors and are the organization's backbone. A new dimension to the growth trajectory could be possible post my induction to the Leadership team. Here, we could collectively accelerate key decisions, in several important areas, be it product innovation through our R&D team or ambitious cost initiative drives which improved company's profitability.

The most important duty of the Managing Director was to get the staff to operate as a team and comprehend the immediate and long term demands, goals, and strategies. Spent time positively engaging people and making them work as crossfunctional teams. Making the staff get a sense of belonging, as well as taking ownership of the work / task was a vital factor in the organization's success. Walking the talk and having faith in the management team's ability has resulted in a high level of professionalism in the workplace.

What were the initial challenges that taught you the basic lessons of managing diversified functions of organizations? Also, how did you manage to achieve the success that you had in the later phase?
When asked for a product forecast and budget projections for years ahead, throughout my Product Management portfolio, I realized that collaboration and cooperation with other functional areas is necessary and very important for better results. It's also vital to double-check what the team
members have understood what is important for the organization and them, rather than just spouting the plans. These lessons, though learned after many difficult periods, have proven to be extremely useful in the later stages of my career when you realize that to meet management objectives, you must have a cohesive and participatory management style in which each member clearly understands his or her role, responsibilities, and targets. Cross functional teamwork techniques have proven to be very vital for achieving effective accomplishments. & Dare Not to be idle, instead 'Dare to attempt', make mistakes, learn, don't repeat the same mistake, and keep trying& are popular practices in our group.

In your professional journey so far, which are the milestones that bestowed you utmost satisfaction both as an individual and a MD?
Seeing the management team members echo/share your own thoughts, for the upliftment of the employees, work hard for the company's well being, and exhibit true respect and concern for the employees' family members provides personal gratification and a sense of achievement. The satisfaction is enhanced by the employees' smiles and their sense of ownership.

Being a part of the 'Global Leadership Management' and firmly establishing the Indian facility as one of the best facilities within the group strongly adhering to the VALUES of the company & maintaining 'high-quality' standard products and that too consistently within accepted OTD bandwidth, has been a great professional satisfaction and career accomplishment. COROB enjoys ‘Brand Equity from its valued customers and their constant feedback on being a 'good company to deal with,' having a strong foothold on the after sales service area, makes us believe that the strategy adopted in technology advancements and product offerings are not only right but well appreciated.
