In a relatively short period of time, the company has been able to create a niche in the industry owing to the quality of their offerings and the transparency of their operations. Perineeta Malhotra is the Co-Founder & Director of Emergence Learning Solutions, and under her guidance, the company has been able to clock-in impressive growth figures and break new business frontiers.

In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Perineeta talks more about her professional journey and her rise to become a pioneering business leader.

Give us brief details about your educational and professional background. Also, tell us about your unique skill sets and strengths that differentiate you from your peers in the industry?
I have a bachelor's degree in arts and a bachelor's degree in hotel management. Prior to starting Emergence Learning, I was a Co-Founder of Quatrro's 'Stratemis' business, which brought the internal HR function to the outside world. As part of Stratemis, I was leading the Learning & Development portfolio. In the earlier years, I oversaw the Employee Development and Employee Communication functions, as well as served as the chairwoman of the Quatrro Group's Internal Committee for Anti-Harassment. I started my career with GECIS in Commercial Collections,but after a year, I transitioned to Training Function. Subsequently, I moved to Keane Worldzen(now NTT Data), where I established and led Operations Training for the entire organization. Professionally, I am a Certified Coach and certified on multiple psychometric tools like Hogan, DISC and Emotional Intelligence. I'm also a Transactional Analysis and Appreciative Inquiry practitioner, as well as a Certified Instructional Designer. I'm now working on my Master's degree in psychology.

Tell us about the inspiration that drove the inception of Emergence Learning Solutions and the significance of its unique name?
We had executed so many innovative initiatives as an L&D Department at Quatrro Group over the preceding decade or so that we were seen as an equal partner in attaining business success. We had a high level of confidence, as these initiatives were tried and tested in a dynamic and demanding global environment. What also came-out was how diverse components when combined create something unique that can produce fantastic results. Emergence was formed in 2019 with this idea of co-creation in mind. The name Emergence refers to the existence or formation of collective behaviors what parts of a system can do together that they could not do alone. Understanding the relationships between the components, or the relationship of the system to its surroundings makes it easier to achieve the changes that the organization or individual seeks.

As a woman in leadership, how are you influencing and inspiring others in and around your professional and personal stratum? What would you say are the top skills needed to be a successful Leader?
During my time at Quatrro, I championed a project called One Woman, which aimed to assist women at all phases of their professional lives. The project went-on to become a case study for Harvard Business Publishing. Along with acting as a coach to fellow women colleagues, I am also a member of the Gurgaon LEAN IN Circle, which is Sheryl Sandberg's initiative. These Circles are created with an intent to create a safe space to share struggles, give & get advice, and celebrate each other's wins for women and any other gender who identifies them selves as a woman. Empathy and humility are the fundamentals for being a leader for me, in addition to taking risks when it comes to expressing what I am feeling and being able to view myself from the perspectives of others. As I am learning, leadership is about bringing-in a balance in each and every aspect of who we are and what we do.

How do you align your organization with your vision and mission? As the Co-founder of Emergence Learning Solutions, what are the key drivers that you deploy to ensure that the company's services are used appropriately to meet its short/long-term needs?
We at Emergence made sure we knew what our vision, purpose, and corporate values were from the start. People, in our opinion, do not
go to work thinking they will do a lousy job that day, and if they are committed to the organization and its principles, they will go above and beyond the basics. We are always reviewing our short and long term strategies to determine how the market/ industry is changing so that we can develop and deploy the necessary initiatives in response to demand. We're also in touch with academia, business leaders, and industry leaders on a regular basis to stay on top of the latest developments. We recognize that as a provider of learning solutions, we are part of an amazing ecosystem. We design solutions based on extensive research and participation from all stakeholders our young and dynamic team plays a very key part in the design process!

As the Co-Founder and Director of Emergence, I work with the team to assist clients identify and build critical skills, habits, and capabilities for the future. Our competence is an outcome of our deep experience as 'Practitioners' across diverse sectors and organizations therein. We've honed our capacity to see people and business processes from a strategic perspective, and we're more focused with generating outcomes than it is with getting caught up in tools, procedures, or frameworks. This is not to dismiss the importance of theoretical frameworks; rather, it is to recognize that there are always different perspectives available. We place a premium on the practical as well as the scientific aspects. We are trustworthy. We understand the need of fine tuning the solution before implementing it. We enjoy developing solutions that clearly specify concrete & intangible outcomes and employ processes to ensure that the outcomes delivered are in line with the goals specified.

In your journey so far which are the milestones that bestowed you with utmost satisfaction both as an individual and a Co-founder?
We've accomplished a number of projects that have brought me immense joy and satisfaction. We can proudly say that we have a near perfect score of 100 percent repeat clients. In a very short span of time, we have been able to demonstrate customer focus, competence, and creativity in all of our projects. It provides me enormous gratification as an individual when you hear from new prospects that they received your reference specifically for you from an existing client.
