Consultants offer a beacon of guidance and a wealth of expertise to help leaders chart their course toward sustainable growth and enduring success. In the dynamic world of management consulting, few individuals possess the drive, expertise, and dedication to make a lasting impact. Pukhraj Sethiya, Co-Founder & COO of ReVal Consulting is one such individual. With over sixteen years of experience in consulting and industry focused on the mining industry, Sethiya has carved a niche for himself by delivering holistic solutions and fostering long term relationships with clients. CEO Insights delves into his professional journey, leadership approach, future aspirations, and entrepreneurial beginnings with Reval Consulting in this exclusive interview.

What was the idea behind the inception of Reval Consulting?
The inception of Reval stems from a fundamental idea: to Revalue and Revalidate the business landscape and extract more value. Throughout my experience in the industry, I observed that focus is on individual items and silos rather thinking of business wholistically which is driven by many factors. Often, consultants would bring their specialized skills in management or technology, but few effectively connects the dots by integrating various capabilities and deliver comprehensive solutions to clients. This gap became even more apparent when I transitioned to the industry. The responsibility of converging findings and recommendations from various experts across different fields fell on the shoulders of management. However, we noticed numerous areas where competency and capability were lacking. Motivated by the need for a more integrated approach, we established Reval. We aimed to bring together the combined competencies of technical, management, financial, and commercial expertise under one roof. Rather than tackling problems in isolation, we sought to provide
holistic solutions that would deliver the best value to our clients. Roughly 13 months ago, we embarked on this journey, and within a year, we had the privilege of working with nearly every major client and company in our sector. The quality of our work speaks for itself, as most of our clients have chosen to stay with us, resulting in an impressive client retention rate of 80 to 90 percent. We've initiated multiple projects with our clients and worked on them simultaneously, demonstrating our agility and commitment to detailed execution.

How has your path to success been, and what is your success mantra?
In the early days of my consulting career, I worked on smaller projects without fully realizing their impact. However, with time, I learned to think critically and consider the big picture. This shift in perspective helped me diagnose real problems and create more value for clients. My success mantra revolves around continuously enhancing skills, taking a long-term view, being open to different views, persevering, and prioritizing the clients and the team. The satisfaction of having happy clients and a motivated team keeps me motivated to explore new things and achieve results.

Tell us about your leadership approach and the guidelines or methodologies you follow.
I consider myself a fellow professional on a continuous learning journey rather than a traditional leader. When working on a project, I prefer briefing my team on the task and sharing my past experiences and references. I encourage them to explore and develop solutions, which we then discuss to improve. However, I keep track of the progress and take charge if necessary. If a task becomes critical,I step in to meet client expectations and deadlines while keeping the team involved. I believe leadership styles should be adaptable depending on the situation and the individuals involved.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
The future looks promising for Reval Consulting. With the opportunities available in India and the younger generation's energy and innovative ideas, we are confident about our growth. We aim to become the preferred consulting organization in the mining sector in India and expand to other industries. We also have plans to go global and establish Reval as an Indian-origin consulting firm serving clients worldwide.
In light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to budding industry leaders?
For aspiring individuals entering the consulting, mining, or entrepreneurial journey industries, it's important to understand that there are no shortcuts to success. The process itself is integral to growth, and setbacks and challenges are inevitable. It's okay to encounter setbacks, losses, or unmet expectations. Instead of becoming disheartened, embracing these experiences as opportunities for course correction and learning is crucial. Rather than dwelling on what didn't work out, focus on understanding what went wrong and use that knowledge to improve. Results take time, and short-term achievements don't always guarantee long-term success. It's essential to remain grounded, humble and committed to achieving long-term goals and aspirations.

While the younger generation often seeks immediate gratification, embracing patience and perseverance is essential. Some efforts may not yield immediate results, but that shouldn't deter us from consistently doing the work. Being open to different perspectives is crucial, as not everyone may share the same views or opinions. Lastly, but most importantly, prioritize the needs of your customers, clients, team, and family above your own. Success is interconnected with the support and satisfaction of those around you. At the end of the day, it is the collective effort of the team, the support of family, and the happiness of clients that contribute to personal success.
