Director

The pharmaceutical industry, with its unforgiving demands and relentless pace, has witnessed many journeys where humble beginnings have blossomed into extraordinary careers. Among these, one name stands tall, representing perseverance, clarity of purpose, and an indomitable spirit: Rajesh Bahal, Director of Pharma Remedy. Like many who stepped into the pharma world, Rajesh Bahal’s career did not begin with privilege or promise but with determination at the grassroots. His first assignment at Ranbaxy as a hospital service executive might have seemed modest, yet it marked the foundation of a remarkable 40-year journey.

What unfolded from there was not merely a climb up the corporate ladder but a profound narrative of self-belief and transformation. From medical representative to area manager, from regional head to national sales leader, from vice president roles at IPCA to directorship at Wanbury, each milestone was fueled by the spark lit on that defining day. Today, as Director at Pharma Remedy, Rajesh Bahal’s journey stands not just as a professional chronicle but as a masterclass in perseverance. His story exemplifies how conviction, when paired with resilience, can transform obstacles and challenges into stepping stones for a lifetime of achievement. Let’s read.

As an alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, which experiences do you consider most transformative in shaping your growth and outlook?

After graduating in Chemistry from Kirori Mal College, family circumstances kept me from higher studies and led me to begin work early at the age of 19 years. Years later, after diverse roles and challenges, I pursued an MBA at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. Industry
had already taught me through trial and error, but JBIMS transformed that experience into structured knowledge.

It gave me frameworks, discipline and clarity enabling me to teach systemati cally in corporate sessions and development programs. Consistently earning top grades, I reaffirmed my belief that true learning never stops. Experience enriched with structured education creates the power to inspire others.

Can you share how accessible the faculty were during your time at JBIMS?

One of the most remarkable aspects of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies was the accessibility of its faculty. Professors were always available, even on weekends, and the Director, coordinators and staff were equally approachable.

My work focuses on strengthening Marketing and sales teams, enhancing leadership and coaching skills, building resilience and adapt ability, and promoting data-driven decision-making

I often engaged in deep discussions with professors, not only about academics but also about real-life industry challenges. These conversations extended learning far beyond the classroom, making the experience at JBIMS both practical and holistic while adding immense value to my professional growth.

What is the most memorable experience you cherish from your time at JBIMS?

One memory that fills me with pride comes right after completing my MBA at JBIMS. The course coordinator invited me to speak at the orientation for the next batch, sharing tips on being a good student, maximizing the course, and introducing the faculty and infrastructure.

Addressing new students so soon after finishing my program was both humbling and rewarding, a meaningful way to give back to the institute that shaped my journey.

What vision or goals are you striving toward for the future?
At this stage of my journey, I feel it is time to give back to society and the industry that has shaped my career. I now dedicate most of my time to business consultancy and learning-focused workshops, finding deep satisfaction in mentoring and sharing knowledge with future leaders.

My work focuses on strengthening Marketing and sales teams, enhancing leadership and coaching skills, building resilience and adaptability, and promoting data-driven decision making.

I also engage as a visiting faculty at leading institutes and support first-generation entrepreneurs in establishing sustainable businesses. Looking ahead, I aim to continue training, mentorship, and management development initiatives, and I will soon begin my PhD in Marketing to further deepen my expertise.

Drawing from your extensive industry experience, what guidance would you offer to those aspiring to become future leaders?

My advice to aspiring leaders is simple: stay relevant by continuously learning and updating your skills, whether through reading or practical experience, and share that knowledge to multiply impact. True leadership is about empowering your team, nurturing their growth, and building strong, genuine relationships based on trust and empathy.

Communicate your vision clearly, lead by example, and treat people with respect, appreciation, and understanding. Remember, leadership is not just about personal advancement but about lifting others. The higher you rise, the greater the responsibility to live by high standards, guiding with integrity, empathy, and a people-first approach to achieve lasting success.
