Motherhood! As beautiful as it sounds, the challenges that come with it are equally overwhelming. From balancing households to managing the emotional and physical needs of children, it's no wonder that many supermoms forget their own needs. Research shows that after getting married, women tend to focus more on caring for their families and less on themselves. According to a survey conducted by Healthy Women and Working Mother, 78 percent of moms reported putting their family's needs before their own, and 56 percent said they have less time to take care of their health after having children. This trend can have significant consequences for women's physical and mental health. To address these issues, Zahra Jani has established herself as a leading voice in the online community, thanks to her eclectic content that covers a wide range of topics related to parenting, self-care, lifestyle, fitness, and the overall well-being of moms. With meaningful and entertaining content, Zahra’s Being Mom and Beyond has built an engaged and loyal following of more than 60,000 people on Instagram who rely on it for tips and tricks for a smooth mom life.

Join CEO Insights as we appreciate Alizah’s mom, Zahra (digital creator and momfluencer) for empowering moms to go beyond the traditional role of a parent and raising a happier self and healthy family.

Could you give a brief account of your background and experiences?
My journey has been anything but predictable until my daughter was born. After completing my B.Com from NM College in Mumbai and earning an ECCed (Early Childhood Care and Education) degree, I spent five years as a dedicated preschool teacher. But as life often goes, change was on the horizon. After tying the knot, I yearned for some
thing more a passion project of my own. I started my own fashion accessories boutique that specialized in trendy and edgy accessories. The business was booming, but fate had other plans. My pregnancy was difficult, and I was confined to bed rest for five long months, leading me to put Zahra Jani Accessories on the back burner.

But two and a half years into motherhood, I found my true calling being a parenting and lifestyle content creator. Empowered by my own experiences, I wanted to create a space where I could support mothers through helpful content. In June 2019, Being Mom and Beyond was born; the journey may have been filled with turns, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I believe that with a supportive family and network, moms can feel empowered and encouraged to tackle the many ups and downs of motherhood while achieving their own dreams

What is the motivation that fuels your daily routines?
My life is driven by a clear vision of whom I want to be, and every day, I wake up with the determination to bring myself one step closer to that vision. This relentless pursuit of my goals is what motivates me to tackle my daily routine, but it's not the only thing that drives me.

As a mother, I believe it's my responsibility to set a positive example for my daughter, Alizah. I want her to see firsthand that anything worth having in life requires hard work and dedication. So, when I'm feeling tired or discouraged, I remind myself that I am not just working for myself, but for the little girl who looks up to me.

Why the name Being Mom and Beyond? What impact is it trying to foster on the ecosystem?
The name Being Mom and Beyond was born out of a simple but powerful idea. I've seen so many women who tend to put their own ambitions and dreams on hold. While being a mom is undoubtedly
one of the most important roles we can play, I firmly believe that there's more to life.

That's why I created Being Mom and Beyond to inspire and motivate women to remember that they are more. Yes, taking care of our children is a top priority, but it's not the only thing that defines us. We have our own dreams, ambitions, and goals that are just as important, and it's crucial that we don't lose sight of them. Through my social media page, I want to create a tribe of empowered, inspired, and fulfilled women who are thriving both as moms and as individuals.

How has the overall journey of Being Mom and Beyond been so far?
When I began my journey on Instagram in 2019, I never imagined it would take me this far. As a stay-at-home mom, building an organic following of over 60k was a significant achievement in itself. It wasn't even on my mind that it could be a career. Initially, I was a one-woman army, taking on everything from shooting to editing, over time, I've grown and now work with a team. This is also a milestone for me. In 2020, we were featured in Humans of Bombay and 99 Women Achievers of India.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
We've expanded our presence from Instagram to different social media platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Our goal is to replicate the same success we've had on Instagram on these platforms, but we know it takes time. However, we're excited about what the future holds.
