A&M Announces Abhijit Ghosh as Head of Tax for Southeast Asia

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Abhijit Ghosh as Managing Director and Head of Tax for Southeast Asia. Operating from Singapore, Mr. Ghosh brings over 35 years of expertise in international tax structuring, transfer pricing, and intellectual property (IP) management. His appointment, following the recent appointment of James Badenach as head of A&M Tax APAC, underscores A&M’s commitment to strengthening its leadership with senior talent equipped to navigate market challenges and seize growth opportunities.

Mr. Ghosh is recognized for his expertise guiding organizations on tax structures, including the establishment of their regional operations. He assists American, European and Asian large corporates, nonprofits as well as NGOs set up their Southeast Asia-based international headquarters. Leveraging his in-depth knowledge of Singapore as an inbound/outbound hub, he helps companies in the Pharma/MedTech, digital technology, telecommunications, consumer and industrial products sectors through the complexities of government regulations. Additionally, Mr. Ghosh manages transfer pricing issues and implements effective IP strategies to protect and maximize client investments.

James Badenach, Managing Director and Head of A&M Tax APAC, ex-Australia, said, “Abhijit’s extensive experience in supporting Multinational Corporations’ (MNCs) inbound and outbound transactions, particularly in using Singapore as a hub for regional investments, will be instrumental in supporting MNCs with their tax strategies and operations throughout Asia. Before joining A&M, Mr. Ghosh spent 28 years at PwC Singapore, where he most recently held the position of Tax Market Leader and Senior Tax Partner. In this capacity, he supported multinational corporations, small and medium enterprises, family offices, and nonprofits in expanding their operations throughout Asia.

She holds a first-class bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Xavier’s College, India, and is a Chartered Accountant and an Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax) with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals. A recognized thought leader, she authored the IP chapter of "The Law & Practice of Singapore Income Tax," a key reference book used in the country's high courts. She has also contributed to several boards, including the World Wildlife Fund Singapore, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), and the editorial board of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Taxation.
