Ambuja Cements Acquires My Home Group's TN Cement Unit for Rs 413.75 Cr
Ambuja Cements, a building material company under the Adani Group umbrella, has announced a strategic move to bolster its presence in southern markets with the acquisition of My Home Group's 1.5 MTPA cement grinding unit in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The acquisition, valued at Rs 413.75 crore, is financed through internal accruals and elevates Adani Group's total cement capacity to 78.9 MTPA.
Situated across 61 acres of land, the Tuticorin plant benefits from a long-term fly ash supply agreement, ensuring consistent raw material sourcing. Ajay Kapur, CEO of Adani Group's Cement Business, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, emphasizing its alignment with the group's commitment to delivering top-notch products and services.
Ambuja Cements intends to leverage the coastal footprint and advanced marine infrastructure of the acquired unit to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The company plans to retain existing employees and inherit the established dealer network, facilitating a seamless transition and swift utilization ramp-up.
This acquisition not only enhances Ambuja Cements' presence in the southern market but also provides an opportunity for customers to experience its trusted brand. Moreover, the strategic advantage of coastal movement for raw materials from the Sanghipuram Plant ensures cost-efficient operations amidst the limited availability of limestone in Tamil Nadu.
With subsidiaries ACC Ltd and Sanghi Industries Ltd, Ambuja Cements now boasts a combined capacity of 78.9 MTPA across the country, with 18 integrated cement manufacturing plants and 19 cement grinding units.
