Anthropic Revenue Run Rate Crosses $65 Billion in July 2026
Anthropic has recorded a sharp acceleration in revenue, with its annualised revenue run rate crossing $65 billion by the end of July 2026, according to Reuters. The latest figure marks a more than sevenfold increase from the roughly $9 billion run rate reported at the end of 2025 and highlights the rapid expansion of the company’s Claude AI business.
The company’s revenue run rate stood at about $47 billion in May, meaning it added nearly $18 billion in annualised revenue in just two months. The surge has strengthened Anthropic’s position among the leading generative AI companies and intensified its competition with OpenAI.
Anthropic reported preliminary revenue of more than $11.5 billion for the second quarter of 2026, compared with $787 million during the same period a year earlier. The figure represents growth of more than 14 times year on year. It also more than doubled from the $4.73 billion reported in the first quarter, underlining the pace at which demand for its AI products is increasing.
The company also reported positive adjusted operating income during the latest quarter, an important indicator that its rapid expansion is beginning to translate into stronger operating performance.
A major driver of Anthropic’s growth has been rising enterprise adoption of Claude, particularly for coding, software development and professional workflows. Its Claude Code product has emerged as a significant contributor, reaching a $1 billion annualised revenue run rate within six months of its launch. The strong demand for coding tools has helped Anthropic expand its enterprise customer base as businesses increase their use of AI for software development and automation.
Anthropic has also moved ahead of OpenAI in annualised revenue run rate. OpenAI’s figure recently reached about $40 billion in 2026, although the companies may use different methodologies to calculate their revenue metrics.
The rapid growth comes as Anthropic prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO). The company confidentially filed its prospectus with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June and could begin trading as early as September or October. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are reportedly working on the offering, which could see Anthropic reach Wall Street before OpenAI.
Anthropic was valued at approximately $965 billion in May after raising $65 billion in a Series H funding round. The valuation more than doubled from about $380 billion in February.
Investors reportedly expect Anthropic to generate between $100 billion and $120 billion in revenue in 2026 if its growth momentum continues. The company is also projecting revenue of around $190 billion to $200 billion by 2028. These forecasts could play a crucial role in determining its IPO valuation, with sustained growth potentially pushing its market value towards the $2 trillion mark.
The rapid rise reflects growing investor confidence in enterprise AI and suggests that demand for AI-powered coding, business automation and professional tools could remain a major growth engine for the sector.
