After successfully launching production of the series' lower-priced base model in India, Apple will begin local production of the iPhone 15 Plus in the next quarter.

Foxconn's plant near Chennai has begun preparations to manufacture the iPhone 15 Plus, according to two industry executives familiar with the plans.

The company unveiled its latest iPhone series on September 12, which includes, among other things, a faster chip for better gaming and a new lighter titanium shell for the Pro models. According to the people cited above, Apple is also aiming to double its India sales next quarter by enticing buyers with new launches and price cuts on iPhone 13 and 14 models, which should result in a record sales quarter for Apple in India during the October-December quarter.

The Cupertino-based company has already begun commercial production of the iPhone 15 at the Foxconn plant, marking the first time an iPhone assembled in India will be sold at the launch stage.

However, local iPhone 15 manufacturing capacity remains limited, and with the holiday season approaching, Apple will import the devices from its major production hub in China to meet demand, according to executives.

"The iPhone 15 Plus will be the next model to be assembled in India." It will take shape between October and December and will be India's fastest manufacturing rollout for a higher-priced model, according to one of the executives.
