
Assam Business Summit to Focus on Attracting Domestic, International Investment

Union Minister Pabitra Kumar Margherita stated that drawing both foreign and domestic investment to the northeastern state is the main goal of the Assam business summit.
Healthcare and hospitality are two key industries where investors have expressed interest, he said.
"We are optimistic of getting good investment proposals from the summit," the union minister of state for external affairs said.
Margherita also said, "The focus is on drawing domestic and international investments equally, with domestic major investments practically starting with the announcement of the Tata semiconductor unit in the state."
A day before the start of a high-profile business gathering in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an exhibition on Monday that highlights Assam's historical advantages and future prospects.
Additionally, Modi visited a number of booths and spoke with representatives and attendees of the show.
The PM visited the "Assam – Past, Present and Future" exhibition hall, which offers a look at the state's current infrastructure projects and historic industries.
As part of the summit, the exhibition also included stalls from private firms, PSUs, and government agencies.
Today, the prime minister will officially inaugurate the summit in front of business delegations from various nations, heads of mission from more than 60 countries, Union ministers, chief ministers, and leading industry figures.
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will speak at the valedictory session, scheduled on the following day.
According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, investment proposals valued at Rs 1.22 lakh crore, which were cleared by the state cabinet on Sunday, are anticipated to be inked during the summit.
After arriving in Guwahati earlier Monday, Modi saw a massive "Jhumur" dance performance including about 9,000 members of the tea tribe.
