With immediate effect, Bhawna Agarwal has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Managing Director for HPE India by U.S.-based tech giant Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE). She will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Heiko Meyer.

After more than 27 years with HPE (previously Compaq), Som Satsangi is retiring. To guarantee a seamless transfer, Agarwal will stay until the end of July 2025.

After HP purchased Compaq in 2002, Satsangi, who began working for the company in 1997 and progressed through sales leadership positions, was appointed Managing Director of HPE India in 2016. He guided the second-largest workforce at HPE to notable success. Agarwal, who joined HPE in 2019, has over 25 years of leadership experience in media, consumer tech, and digital start-ups. Most recently, he oversaw Account Management and Industry Verticals for India. She and Satsangi recently joined Indian IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in celebrating the launch of HPE's 6001st "Made in India" server.

In addition to holding board and advisory positions at Max Life Limited, Venture Fund, and OYO Rooms, Agarwal was the former CEO of NDTV Gadgets360. She finished Harvard Business School's Senior Executive Leadership Program and earned an MBA from the Institute of Management Technology.

She said in a LinkedIn post: “Sometimes, life presents you with an opportunity to write a new chapter, and you realize it's time to start a whole new book. Becoming the Managing Director of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) India is one of those transformative moments for me. Together with our committed and agile team, we will strive to achieve new milestones and deliver exceptional value to our customers & partners.”

“I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Som and continuing to drive growth, scaling our impact and innovation in the region".

"Together with our talented team, we will strive to achieve new milestones, shaping a future reflective of our ambitions and delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners," she added.

In India, HPE's market is expanding significantly, especially in fields like big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Antonio Neri, the CEO of Mint/TechCircle, stated in a previous interview (published in December 2023) that the growth is being driven by a number of factors, including the expansion of cloud computing services, the growing use of AI and big data technologies, government initiatives, and data localization rules. HPE's "Make in India" campaign, which aims to produce servers domestically, improves its standing in the Indian market.
