imgGlobal private equity firm Carlyle has roped in a former Blackstone executive to co-lead its India investment advisory team. Amit Jain takes charge as managing director and co-head of the India investment advisory team, according to a statement.  Based in Mumbai, Jain would work closely with fellow co-head of the unit, Neeraj Bharadwaj.

Jain was most recently a senior managing director of the private equity unit at Blackstone where he spent ten years with involvement in investments across consumer, healthcare, auto, telecom and packaging sectors as well as parts of financial services. Previously, Jain also worked at McKinsey & Company. According to Carlyle, the new hire signals the firm’s intention of «doubling down» in India.

Since entering the India market in 2005, Carlyle has deployed and committed over $5.5 billion across 44 investments. Additionally, in terms of Asia Healthcare, Carlyle has also made promotions for the healthcare sector where it has invested $2.8 billion over 15 years.

Neeraj Bharadwaj and Ling Yang, current head of healthcare in China, have been appointed as co-heads of healthcare for Asia.
