Cognizant to Expand Presence in Hyderabad with New Facility
Global IT giant Cognizant is set to significantly expand its operations in Hyderabad by establishing a new center, which is anticipated to create 15,000 new jobs.
The agreement for the one million square feet facility was finalized on Monday following a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Cognizant leadership in New York. This strategic expansion will focus on advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the groundwork for this agreement was laid during the Chief Minister’s visit to Davos earlier this year. The upcoming facility is designed to accommodate 20,000 employees, underscoring Cognizant's commitment to leveraging Hyderabad’s rich talent pool and robust infrastructure to support its global operations.
The announcement followed a meeting between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, IT Minister Sridhar Babu, and a high-level delegation from Cognizant led by CEO Ravi Kumar. During the discussions, the strategic importance of Hyderabad as a growing hub for technology and innovation in India was emphasized.
"We are excited to expand our presence in Hyderabad, a city that continues to demonstrate its strengths as a technology and innovation hub", said Ravi Kumar in a statement from the CMO.
The new center will enable Cognizant to better serve its global clients and continue delivering cutting-edge solutions in IT services and consulting. The decision highlights Hyderabad's growing reputation as a leading destination for technology companies.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated Cognizant on its expansion plans, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for IT and business services. "The expansion of Cognizant's operations in Hyderabad is a testament to the city's growing reputation as a global destination for technology companies", he said.
Minister Sridhar Babu also highlighted the significance of this expansion. "Hyderabad's vibrant tech ecosystem continues to attract leading global companies. Cognizant's decision to establish a new center strengthens our position as a leading IT hub", he stated.
