Dixon Technologies to Build Rs 1,000 Crore Plant Near Chennai

Dixon Technologies, a company that provides electronics manufacturing services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government and is constructing a Rs 1,000-crore plant close to Chennai.

According to the state government, the facility, which will be built at Oragadam in the nearby Kancheepuram district, is anticipated to create 5,000 jobs in the area.

At the Secretariat this week, in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin and Industries Minister T R B Rajaa, among others, top Dixon Technologies officials, led by Executive Chairman Sunil Vachani and Vice President Prithvi Vachani, exchanged documents with Darez Ahamed, MD and CEO of Tamil Nadu's nodal investment promotion agency Guidance.

Dixon Technologies will establish the facility at the Indospace Industrial Park in Oragadam, which is roughly 45 kilometers south of Chennai, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding.

In addition to producing laptops and all-in-one PCs, the plant will provide other businesses with electronic manufacturing services.

 

According to the government, Dixon Technologies was founded in 1993 and has been offering contract manufacturing services to a number of businesses, including TCL Technologies, OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, boAt, and Panasonic.

Since May 2021, Tamil Nadu has signed 895 Memorandums of Understanding with different companies, resulting in investment pledges totaling Rs 10,14,368 crore and the creation of 32 lakh employment in the state.

According to the administration, it is making every effort to continue creating jobs while growing its economy to a size of $1 trillion USD by 2030.

The administration, citing an economic research report, said that the state's 9.69 percent growth in FY 2024–2025 was the highest in the previous 10 years, placing it first among Indian states.
