The 3rd edition of Innovation Day 2022, Dow India's flagship event, was hosted in Navi, Mumbai. Global and local leaders came together to ‘imagine, innovate & sustain' the creation of valuable goods and services for their companies, which in turn serve the consumer markets. Most companies have noted a significant influence that the lockdown has had on people's lives and jobs as the post-pandemic age turns the world from recuperation to the reopening of economies. The main force that has pushed them to seek alternatives and solutions for a more sustainable planet has been innovation.

Dr. A.N. Sreeram, Dow's senior vice president of research & development and chief technology officer, discussed the highlights of the company's innovation & digitalization efforts to provide consumers with products that are both more effective and environmentally friendly. "Our goal from a technology & innovation standpoint is to always have a seat at the design table amongst our key customers and value chain leaders", he stated.
Furthermore, Chandrakant Nayak, CEO, Dow India shared, "Through our materials science expertise and collaboration with our partners, we are committed to bringing innovation under one platform for developing solutions for a sustainable future. Innovation cuts across the realms of processes, products, business models, and solutions for us at Dow".

Dr. Sreeram further went on to say, "Our world is changing so rapidly, we cannot precisely predict the future. The one constant, however, is that all humans are continually trying to make their lives and the world around us better and want to be able to do it safely and responsibly. What we can focus on is that products and solutions deliver differentiation and value for our customers, while using fewer resources and lowering collective and individual carbon footprint".

The industry leaders participated in panel discussions circling focus on Digitalization driving innovation & Sustainability Reuse, recycle & recover. Digitalization has undoubtedly transformed the entire value chain, helping companies drive efficiencies and serve customers in realtime. Sustainability is a path achievable by collaborating and leveraging expertise across the industry. This collaboration will fuel the creation of the most value for society and the planet.

In the words of Nayak, "In India, we are witnessing a convergence of local demands with an enhanced focus on manufacturing, and India plays a key role in the global supply chain. I believe this trend will benefit the chemical industry significantly, and we see merit in coming together to co-create sustainable solutions for India and the subcontinent".
