HUL chairman Sanjiv Mehta to take over as FICCI president

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) chairman and managing director Sanjiv Mehta will be the president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) after the 94th annual general meeting on December 18, 2021 concludes.

He is also the president of Unilever South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal), and is a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive.

A commerce graduate, Mehta has done chartered accountancy from India and completed his advanced management program from the Harvard Business School, Mehta has been with Unilever for 28 years and for the last 19 years he has led businesses in different parts across the globe.

Mehta, who is currently holding the position of senior vice president of FICCI, will succeed Uday Shankar as the current president of the association claimed the FICCI.

Alongside HUL, Mehta is also a Director on the Board of Indian School of Business, a member of the Breach Candy Hospital Trust, and the South Asia Advisory Board of Harvard Business School.

In his eight years tenure at the helm, HUL’s market capitalisation has increased by over $55 billion making it one of the most valuable companies in the country. Forbes has rated HUL as the most innovative company in India and the 8th most innovative company in the world.
