India and Seychelles Declare of $175 million Economic Package

India and Seychelles declared a Special Economic Package of $175 million aimed at addressing Seychelles' developmental requirements, particularly in public housing, transportation, infrastructure, capacity enhancement, and maritime safety.

The two nations signed several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie in attendance. The two nations concurred to keep looking for fresh opportunities to enhance economic collaboration.

"Besides boosting trade in local currencies, we will also work together on fintech and digital solutions," PM Modi stated.  Development collaborations have been the solid base of India-Seychelles relations." "Our actions are fully aligned with the priorities and needs of Seychelles."

Herminie has invited Modi as the Guest of Honour for Seychelles' 50th independence anniversary, aligning with the golden jubilee of diplomatic ties between the two countries. In the joint address, he remarked that economic collaboration and development assistance were significant themes in the discussions.

In his speech, the prime minister announced that the two nations have agreed on an MoU for training Seychelles civil servants in India.

"These projects will generate job opportunities and enhance skill development for the people of Seychelles, particularly the younger generation." "The ITEC program from India has been crucial in enhancing capacity in Seychelles," he stated.

"The bond between India and Seychelles extends beyond just diplomatic interactions," he stated. "For centuries, the tides of the Indian Ocean have linked our communities."
