ITC CMD Sanjiv Puri Named President of Confederation of Indian Industry
Sanjiv Puri, the Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited, has assumed the role of President at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a leading industry chamber. Puri, who graduated from IIT Kanpur and the Wharton School of Business, will hold the position of CII President for the term 2024-25.
As Rajiv Memani, Chairman of EY India, steps into the role of President Designate for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the term 2024-25, R Mukundan, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, has assumed the position of Vice President at CII.
Puri served as Chairman of the Expert Group on agri-exports established by the 15th Finance Commission. He was also a Member of the NITI Aayog Group focused on 'Farm to Table,' which aimed to digitally advance India's agriculture sector. Moreover, he chaired the 'Action Council on ESG in Business,' which operated under the umbrella of Business 20 India.
He is on the Governing and Executive Boards of the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum. Puri is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Gandhinagar and a Member of the BRICS Business Council. Spearheading the ITC Next vision, Puri has driven an extensive strategy reset to build a future-tech, climate-positive, innovative, and inclusive enterprise.
Puri, who serves as Chairman of ITC Infotech India Ltd and its subsidiaries in the UK and USA, as well as Surya Nepal Private Ltd, assumes the role from R Dinesh, Chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions. Rajiv Memani, Chairman of EY's India region, a leading global professional services firm, also holds a position on EY's global management body as Chair of its Global Emerging Markets Committee.
He serves as a reliable consultant to prominent Indian firms, private equity entities, and multinational corporations, primarily offering guidance on fostering trust, facilitating mergers and acquisitions, leveraging technology, and implementing intelligent capital allocation strategies.
