Kabir Ahmed Shakir Succeeds Pratibha K Advani as Tata Communications' CFO

Tata Communications appoints Kabir Ahmed Shakir as its Chief Financial Officer with effect from today. The company’s former CFO, Pratibha K Advani who has served Tata Communications for more than five years has stepped down from her role and Kabir would succeed her.

Commenting on Kabir’s appointment, A S Lakshminarayanan, MD & CEO, Tata Communications states, "I am pleased to welcome Kabir into the leadership team at Tata Communications. Kabir brings with him extensive functional expertise together with a deep understanding of digital businesses and startups. As the company looks to implement the new vision to be a global leader in enabling digital ecosystems, Kabir's experience will be valuable in driving transformation programs as well as profitable and sustainable growth for the company."

Kabir possesses close to three decades of leadership experience in strategic financial management. His experience also highlights a sharp focus on growth, operational execution across diverse industries, and geographies. Before joining Tata Communications, Kabir has been serving as CFO at Microsoft India. Prior to Microsoft, Kabir was associated with Unilever for about 23 years and has held leadership roles across the globe- as International Funding Director in the Netherlands, CFO of the home and personal care business in India, global supply chain finance director in the UK and global CFO for the skincare category in the UK.

In his new role, Kabir would be responsible for the strategic financial management of the company and he would also focus on investor relations.

Tata Communication has posted a seven-fold jump of its consolidated net profit at Rs. 384.81 crore for the September quarter. Also, the company had recorded a gain of Rs. 54.31 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal.

Tata Communications' consolidated revenue has grown by 4.5 percent and reached Rs.4,477.18 crore during the reported quarter from Rs.4,282.3 crore in the year-ago period, as the company reported in BSE filing.
