MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9400 Chip for Cutting-Edge AI and Gaming
MediaTek has just launched the newest smartphone chipset aimed at high performance, Dimensity 9400. According to the company, this chipset is optimized for artificial intelligence-driven applications, immersive gaming, and advanced photography; it was announced on Wednesday, with a high-performance processor optimized for edge-AI functions and ready to power new smartphones arriving in Q4.
The fourth model in MediaTek's flagship SoC lineup-the Dimensity 9400-is based on a second-generation 'All Big Core' architecture, based on Arm's v9.2 CPU design, which allows the most advanced GPU and NPU technologies to unite for top-of-class performance, delivering this in class-topping energy efficiency. The chipset is based on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, which ensures 40 percent better power efficiency than its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300.
MediaTek President Joe Chen said, "The new chipset is capable of core advanced AI capabilities, enabling the ability of applications to predict user needs and further enabling generative AI processes such as on-device LoRA training and video creation". "The Dimensity 9400 continues our journey of AI innovation, providing high-end performance with outstanding energy efficiency", he noted.
Equipped with a single-core performance enhancement of 35 percent and multi-core processing gains of up to 28 percent compared with the previous generation, the Dimensity 9400 also features enhancements in LLM up to 80 percent, as well as saving 35 percent in power consumption.
MediaTek is working with developers to create one seamless interface for AI agents, third-party applications, and models, thus allowing seamless integration of edge AI with cloud services.
The Dimensity 9400 is the first chip from MediaTek that continues the march towards an increased presence in the market by setting a new benchmark in smartphone performance, energy efficiency, and AI-driven innovation.
