"The collaboration encompasses experiential education and training initiatives dedicated to fostering a globally competitive talent pool, aligning with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) for capacity development", stated both companies. The government-initiated ISM program aims to establish a resilient and self-reliant ecosystem for semiconductor assembly and testing, with the overarching objective of positioning India as a global hub for electronics manufacturing and design. The anticipated growth of the semiconductor manufacturing industry in India is projected to quadruple, reaching a capitalization of $110 billion by 2030.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Cabinet Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and IT, expressed, "With the collaboration between Micron and NAMTECH, we are shaping the future of semiconductor education and manufacturing in India, while sculpting a global narrative of innovation and technological prowess. This partnership, forged under the umbrella of the India Semiconductor Mission, propels our nation towards a self-sufficient and pioneering role in the semiconductor landscape. To further support the semiconductor industry and its ecosystem, we also request Micron to establish a Center of Excellence in Gujarat".
