Concluding his three-day trip to the United States, Misri engaged in discussions with Wright centered on enhancing energy security, expanding bilateral energy commerce, and exploring innovative ways to fortify the India-US Energy Partnership, as stated by the Indian Embassy in the US.
“Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called on Energy Secretary Chris Wright @SecretaryWright @ENERGY. Discussions focused on advancing energy security, deepening bilateral energy trade, and identifying new avenues to strengthen the India-US Energy Partnership,” the embassy said.
The American Ambassador to India, Sergei Gor, who was in attendance at the meeting on Friday, expressed the US' willingness to collaborate with India on civil nuclear cooperation, as well as other areas such as coal gasification and the export of liquefied petroleum gas from the US.
“Great to spend this (Friday) morning with @SecretaryWright and FS Vikram Misri to discuss the future of US-India energy cooperation. After India’s historic passage of the SHANTI bill, we are ready to cooperate on civil nuclear in addition to other areas such as coal gasification and US LPG exports,” Gor said in a post on X.
The SHANTI Act is widely regarded as the most comprehensive overhaul of the civil nuclear industry in India.
The legislation, enacted in December of last year, has opened the closely-regulated civil nuclear sector to private involvement. It further revoked the Atomic Energy Act of 1962 and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage (CLND) Act of 2010. Misri arrived at this location during the evening hours of Tuesday, commencing a visit that is expected to span three days. Meetings have been conducted by him with high-ranking officials from the defense, commerce, and state departments.

“He interacted with General Gregory M Guillot (Commander US-NORTHCOM/NORAD) for a productive exchange of perspectives on complex operational modalities, reflecting the strength of the growing partnership,” the IAF said in a post on X.
In individual meetings, Gor engaged in talks with Steve Feinberg, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Dan Driscoll, the Secretary of the Army within the US.
“Defence cooperation between the US and India is only growing and it’s making both our countries safer and stronger. Discussed with Deputy Secretary Feinberg ways that we can deepen ties, including through defense sales of US equipment, the best in the world, and strengthening interoperability,” Gor posted on X.
