Neste Opens Office in Melbourne to Support Feedstock Sourcing Operations

CEO Insights team

Neste, the world’s leading provider of renewable diesel and the 3rd most sustainable company in the world, strengthens its footprint in renewable feedstock sourcing. The company has opened an office in Melbourne to serve Neste’s waste and residue raw material sourcing operations in Australia and New Zealand.

“The opening of our new office in Australia marks another important step in Neste’s global growth strategy. Our aim is to become a global leader in renewable and circular solutions. By opening a local office, we are better placed to cooperate closely with our partners to secure the supply of waste and residue raw materials. This, in turn, enables us to serve the growing global demand for low-carbon solutions in transport and cities, aviation, polymers and chemicals,” says Matti Lehmus, Executive Vice President (Renewables Platform), Neste. “Different waste and residues account for approximately 80 percent of our renewable raw materials globally. With our own proprietary NEXBTL technology, renewable products can be refined flexibly from a wide variety of low-quality raw materials while the end-products retain their high quality. They support our customers in reducing their climate emissions,” he adds.

Singapore, the Netherlands and Finland. The company’s renewable products production capacity is today close to 3 million tons annually. The ongoing Singapore capacity expansion will bring the total renewable production capacity of Neste to 4.5 million tons annually in 2022. As a result of this investment, Neste will have more flexibility between different product solutions in Singapore and be able to produce renewable diesel, renewable aviation fuel and raw material for various polymers and chemicals markets. It also enables the use of increasingly low-quality waste and residue raw materials also for the existing refinery.

Neste’s Australia office is registered as a fully-owned subsidiary of Neste, located in the city center of Melbourne.

Neste creates sustainable solutions for transport, business, and consumer needs. Neste’s wide range of renewable products enables its customers to reduce climate emissions. It is the world's largest producer of renewable diesel refined from waste and residues, introducing renewable solutions also to the aviation and plastics industries. Neste is also a technologically advanced refiner of high-quality oil products. The organization wants to be a reliable partner with widely valued expertise, research, and sustainable operations. In 2018, Neste's revenue stood at EUR 14.9 billion. In 2019, Neste placed 3rd on the Global 100 list of the most sustainable companies in the world.
