Nvidia Reiterates its Chips have No Backdoors

Nvidia released a blog post reaffirming that its chips lack backdoors or kill switches and urged US policymakers to abandon such notions, stating it would be a "gift" to hackers and adversarial entities. The blog entry, released in English and Chinese, followed a week after the Chinese government called the U.S. AI chip leader to a meeting expressing concerns over a U.S. proposal that advanced chips sold internationally should have tracking and positioning capabilities.
The White House and both chambers of Congress have suggested mandating US chip manufacturers to integrate location verification technology into their chips to stop them from being rerouted to nations where US export regulations prohibit sales. The individual bills and the White House proposal have not turned into an official regulation, and no technical standards have been set.
Inserting backdoors and kill switches into chips would provide a boon to hackers and malicious entities. Nvidia stated it would damage global digital frameworks and weaken trust in American technology. Last week, it stated that its products lack any backdoors that would enable remote access or control.
