OpenAI Appoints Mike Liberatore as Business Finance Officer

OpenAI has named Mike Liberatore, former finance head at Elon Musk's xAI, as the AI startup's finance officer, responsible for overseeing its AI infrastructure.
Liberatore, who left xAI in July after just three months in his position, will report to CFO Sarah Friar and work with Greg Brockman's team, which is tasked with enhancing OpenAI's access to computational resources.
Liberatore, a former executive at Airbnb, took part in xAI's $5 billion debt fundraising in June and an additional $5 billion strategic equity investment.
His appointment comes amid a rivalry between Musk's company and OpenAI, alongside a fierce battle among tech companies for AI talent.
