The voice notification would aid the merchants at the time of their peak business hours with the use of have a voice message doing the announcement of the amount that is received from a customer. With this feature, the merchant need not have to check the customer’s phone screen or wait for a bank's SMS.

The PhonePe's Business app was introduced in 2018 and, post today's announcement the app's notification would be available in English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Odiya, and Assamese.

The PhonePe for Business app sends out the message to merchants on various products and launches in the vernacular language that they would be more comfortable with. When a merchant is on the app, the PhonePe field team also shares educational material giving them information about the various products and features in different languages thereby ensuring a smoother sign-up process.

By adding more further languages to its repertoire, PhonePe is looking to extend its adoption all over the country. The app is currently being used by more than 15 million merchant partners across India, states the company reports.

Vivek Lohcheb, Head of offline business development at PhonePe says, "We are constantly building new features on the PhonePe for business app to make it easier for our merchant partners to run and grow their business." He further adds, "The multi-lingual voice notification functionality makes it easier for our merchant partners to attend to their customers while also making sure that payments have been received during peak hours in the language of their choice."
