Separator

Siemens Digital Industries Software has revealed an extension of its collaboration with Microsoft, enabling the Siemens Xcelerator as a Service suite of industry software to be accessible via Microsoft's cloud and AI platform, Azure. This joint effort seeks to merge Siemens' software with generative AI and Copilot capabilities, providing Siemens' clientele with increased flexibility and options while also broadening the accessibility of Microsoft's AI solutions.

The partnership will commence with the delivery of Teamcenter X software, a scalable and secure Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution, on Microsoft Azure. This move allows customers to implement mission-critical solutions on their preferred cloud and AI platform, benefiting from Microsoft’s responsible AI tools and enterprise-grade security. Teamcenter X empowers teams to streamline operations, reduce cycle time, minimize IT costs, and accelerate innovation.

This partnership expands upon the recent introduction of the Teamcenter application on Microsoft Teams. Siemens' top-tier Teamcenter software enables smooth communication between frontline factory and service teams and design and engineering teams. Harnessing advancements in generative AI and Natural Language Processing, Siemens developers have embedded tailored copilot functionality into the application, empowering frontline workers to efficiently access engineering data and foster effective collaboration.

Siemens is in the process of creating a Copilot for Microsoft 365 plugin specifically designed for the Siemens Teamcenter application on Teams. This plugin is set to enhance workload management for workers throughout the product lifecycle and value chain. By integrating Microsoft Copilot directly into the Teams app, users gain the ability to solicit assistance seamlessly, thereby boosting productivity and facilitating collaboration.

Nick Parker, President of Industry & Partnerships at Microsoft, emphasized the importance of integrating Azure AI into the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to meet market demands and stimulate customer-centric innovation. This partnership seeks to empower design engineers, frontline workers, and teams across various business functions and geographical locations, nurturing innovation and enhancing productivity.
