A leading commercial banking sector of Japan, Sony Bank announces the launch of a new English-language online banking service for its foreign residents. Needless to say, this intervention is a log awaited reform, as most non-native citizens of Japan find it difficult to convey their banking needs to the officials due to the linguistic gap (as most cannot speak Japanese). As a result, the commercial banking sectors are losing upon a major section of the customers, as they continue holding a domestic bank account. This new-found intervention is sure to taut the gap, as it will provides hassle-free way to provide a more pursuable way of daily banking.

According to a report released in 2019, the count of the foreign residents in Japan has jacked-up to 2.82 million, which is up to 7.3 percent rise from the previous year and is predicted to grow more. As per an online survey conducted by Sony bank, it has been found that 60 percent of the customers are dissatisfied with the services provided by Sony Bank. The listed reasons remained to be complicated paperwork & procedures, the need for Hanko seals, and a lack of language support. This rattled the bank to take immediate steps, as it could no more afford to lose the customer-credits for the provided services.

Addressing the needs of the expatriate community, Sony's new mobile banking application is suited in a cutting edge OCR technology for easy account opening and seamless banking experience to bridge over the tedious paperwork.
