Evangelist and business coach Sanjay Bhargava would be joining Elon Musk founded SpaceX in October as the Starlink Country Director India. Bhargava, in his previous role, was the Chairman and Principal Founder of Bharosa Club, an investment advisor firm based in Delhi.
Bhargava’s relationship with Musk goes long back. He had previously worked with the Tesla founder on the PayPal founding team. As per Bhargava’s LinkedIn, he is the inventor of ‘random deposit’. He devised an easier and low-cost method for authenticating bank accounts linked to PayPal. Instead of the expensive method of collecting cancelled cheques, the firm made a low-value deposit and asked the customer to update the transaction id.
With Bharosa Club, Bhargava built a low-cost digital platform that connects basic bank accounts to all mutual funds through transfer service companies CAMS and Karvy.
He holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and a masters from IIM Ahmedabad. He started his career at Citibank where he worked for over 18 years and rose up to the rank of Vice President. He quit Citibank to join PayPal as a member of its founding team; the company was still a startup then. It was here that he met Elon Musk.
