Suzlon Plans 10 GW Karnataka Push With Two Wind Parks

Suzlon Energy aims for 10 GW of wind-energy operations in Karnataka within the next five years and intends to create two wind parks in Vijayapura and Raichur, alongside a planned blade manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 2 GW.
Dinesh Jagdale, President of Corporate Affairs and Retail Business at Suzlon, revealed the plans during a panel discussion on renewable energy opportunities in Karnataka at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026. The firm stated that the two wind farms would collectively host 2.2 GW of developments in the upcoming two to three years.

The suggested parks are designed to function as "plug and play" locations for wind developers. In this method, Suzlon would handle site readiness and related project-development tasks, enabling developers to concentrate on establishing and launching their projects.
The parks will be situated in the districts of Raichur and Vijayapura, which was previously called Bijapur. Suzlon's announcement did not detail the specific locations, investment amount, project timelines beyond the mentioned two-to-three-year development phase, or the anticipated number of turbines to be set up.
A crucial element of the strategy is Suzlon’s Development Company model, known as DevCo. Suzlon conducts development activities through a separate company and readies the site for other wind developers to initiate their projects. The firm stated that the model aims to lessen the development load and execution duration for project developers.

Suzlon is also exploring the establishment of a blade manufacturing facility in Karnataka, capable of producing blades for wind turbines totaling 2 GW. The plant would be the company's 17th facility for blade production.
Suzlon stated that its approach was to spread blade production across various sites rather than focusing manufacturing in a limited number of large plants.
The suggested manufacturing investment would bring production nearer to the planned projects in the state, although the company has yet to disclose the plant's location, construction timeline, investment total, or job creation prospects. These aspects will be crucial for evaluating the project's influence on industry and regional development.
The announcement arrives as Karnataka continues to be an important site for wind-energy progress. Suzlon is suggesting an integrated model that connects land and project readiness with equipment provision by merging project-ready sites with manufacturing capability. The company's announcement, however, does not specify how many developers have pledged to utilize the proposed parks or how the initiatives will be linked to the electricity grid.

Jagdale mentioned that incentives for the industry were appreciated and would aid in the progress of wind energy. Suzlon did not specify particular incentives or offer details of any official agreement with the Karnataka government in the statement released from the summit.
The next steps will likely include pinpointing the sites, finishing the project-development tasks in Vijayapura and Raichur, and determining the location and execution strategy for the planned blade manufacturing plant.
