Suzuki Motorcycle India Names Kenichi Umeda As New MD

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd introduced Kenichi Umeda as its new Managing Director on Tuesday.

Satoshi Uchida, the company's previous Managing Director, has stepped down, according to Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL).

He will be in charge of expanding and enhancing Suzuki Motorcycle India's position in the Indian and international markets.

He has over 27 years of strong industry expertise from numerous worldwide marketplaces, according to the announcement.

Suzuki sees India as a key market. Providing innovative goods and solutions that match the changing demands of customers has been a goal for Suzuki Motorcycle India since its beginnings, according to Umeda.

Suzuki Motorcycle India, Private Limited (SMI) is Suzuki, Japan's wholly owned Indian subsidiary. It was Suzuki's third automotive venture in India, following TVS Suzuki (1982-2001) and Maruti Suzuki (1982). Suzuki Motor Corporation and TVS Motor Company formed a joint venture in 1982 and began producing two-wheelers in India. After splitting from TVS Motor Company in 2001, the business re-entered the market in 2006 as Suzuki Motorcycle India, Private Limited (SMI). The business has established a production plant in Gurgaon, Haryana, with a capacity of 5,40,000 units per year.
