Tata Digital is poised to name Sajith Sivanandan, a previous executive from Google and JioHotstar, as its chief executive officer starting September 1, representing the third leadership shift at the Tata Group’s digital division in under two years.

Sivanandan's latest role was as president of Jio Mobile Digital Services, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries. He formerly headed JioHotstar as CEO and dedicated over 15 years to Alphabet Inc.'s Google, where he directed its payments service Google Pay, initially as managing director for India and subsequently for the Asia-Pacific region.

His appointment arrives as Tata Digital seeks to stabilize its leadership positions and refine its strategy following several significant departures.

Pratik Pal, the founding CEO who launched Tata Neu, resigned in February 2024, and Naveen Tahilyani followed suit, stepping down just 15 months into his role in May 2025 to take an international position at Prudential Plc.

Coincidentally, September 1 will also signify Tata Digital’s transition to a new headquarters in Mumbai. The business will move from its six-level office in Fort House located in the Fort area, to a three-story building at One International Centre in Lower Parel.

The decision is anticipated to reduce its monthly office rental expenses by approximately Rs 2 crore, with rent decreasing from roughly Rs 3 crore at Fort to Rs 1 crore at Lower Parel.

The shift in leadership aligns with Tata Sons, the parent company of the $100-billion conglomerate, getting ready to invest $400 million into Tata Digital.

The financing, anticipated to be sourced from Tata Sons’ dividend profits from Tata Consultancy Services, will give a crucial uplift to the company, which has faced challenges in expanding within India’s highly competitive e-commerce sector.
