Toyota to Build Three New Assembly Plants in Maharashtra

Toyota Motor intends to establish three vehicle manufacturing facilities in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, as automakers redirect their focus from stagnant markets such as the US and China to burgeoning markets.
Toyota's latest infrastructure development will enhance its production capacity in the nation threefold, aiming to reach one million units by the 2030s.

The overall investment for this expansion is projected to be approximately 300 billion yen, equivalent to $1.91 billion.
The addition of new manufacturing units will expand Toyota's production facilities in India to a total of six, complementing the three currently established factories located in the southern region.
These southern plants focus mainly on serving the domestic market, whereas the new facilities will be dedicated to managing export activities. According to Fourin, a Japanese research firm, Toyota's manufacturing capacity is structured at 3.1 million units within Japan, 2.2 million units in China, and 1.5 million units in the US.
With the establishment of three additional factories, India will become the company's fourth-largest production hub.
Toyota will additionally manufacture plug-in hybrid vehicles designed for consumers who prioritize environmental sustainability.
Investments amounting to billions of dollars from Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki are indicative of India's emerging significance as a manufacturing center, reports indicate.
The addition of these new plants will increase Toyota's total number of manufacturing facilities in India to six.

Currently, there are three operational plants in the southern region of the country, focusing mainly on serving the domestic market. Furthermore, the new plants will be responsible for managing exports as well.
