BCCI secretary Jay Shah congratulated the broadcaster and called it a "massive win for women's cricket" in a tweet. The five teams for the inaugural WIPL season are expected to be revealed on January 25th. The Mumbai Indians, owned by Reliance, as well as the franchise owners of the Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan
Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans, have expressed interest in bidding for the teams, and the inaugural season is expected to begin in early March.

The bcci will split 80 percent of the revenue from media rights and ground sponsorships equally among the five teams

The BCCI decided to auction the media rights first for the first time because it will allow potential team owners to figure out their business model based on projected revenues from the media rights deal. The BCCI will split 80 percent of the revenue from media rights and ground sponsorships equally among the five teams. Its invitation to tender (ITT) was available for a non-refundable fee of approximately Rs.5 lakh, excluding taxes. The ITT procurement procedure was available for purchase until the end of 2022, and it stated that only those who met the eligibility criteria outlined in the ITT and other terms and conditions would be eligible to bid. It also stated that simply purchasing this ITT did not entitle anyone to bid.
