Walmart International Names Chris Nicholas as President & CEO

Chris Nicholas, formerly the president and chief executive officer of Sam’s Club, has become the president and CEO of Walmart International.
In a message revealing the shift, Nicholas mentioned, “We possess robust businesses driven by outstanding teams throughout our markets, a culture of swift innovation, and a lasting mission to assist people in saving money and improving their lives. I’m motivated by the upcoming opportunities and eager to collaboratively influence the future of worldwide retail. I’m eager to hit the road."
At Sam's Club, Nicholas directed the membership-focused retailer in transforming the retail experience by offering unique value, ease, and an enhanced omnichannel network.
Before joining Sam’s Club, he held the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer at Walmart U.S., managing store operations and the supply chain, which encompassed strategy, innovation, automation, distribution and fulfillment centers, last-mile delivery, and real estate.

Nicholas began his career at Walmart in 2018 as deputy CFO and subsequently took on the roles of CFO for Walmart International and then Walmart U.S. Prior to his time at Walmart, he accumulated more than twenty years of experience in global retail across nine nations, serving in senior leadership positions at Tesco, The Salling Group, and the Coles Group, where he played a key role in transforming Australia’s supermarket industry.

He possesses a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Management Science from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and is a Chartered Management Accountant.
