Software-as-a-Service has much space to accelerate growth around the globe as industries have adopted an immense shift to cloud-based environments. SaaS startups in India have seen significant growth in recent years and the growth is projected to be valued at $50 billion by 2030. Mindtickle is a solutions provider company in the SaaS space that helps start-ups with executing their strategy and enabling them to derive the desired ROI for their businesses.

Neeraj Sanghvi is the Director (Product Management) at Minditickle and has worked in many small and big roles in the company in the nurturing stage. According to him, in a product, sticking to the basics helps but randoms in the fast-pacing tech industry, accompanied by competing standards, call for experimenting too. Innovation is the key and beating the competition depends on the perfect product. “Being in a replacement market, where systems are being continually established, you need to invest, innovate and upgrade”, says Neeraj.

In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Neeraj takes us through his professional journey and the learnings that help him transition Mindtickle to what it is today.

Give a brief account of your professional journey.
I passed out from NIT Trichy in the year 2013 and moved to Dubai to
work in PLC and SCADA systems for Energy & Infrastructure projects as a project engineer. I was leading the project end-to-end and though the role was full of challenges, there was a lot of learning involved too. I was doing good in Dubai but always yearned to get back to my country and channel my learnings and energy toward a start-up in India

How has been the influence of NIT on the same and with your current role and operations in particular?
Of course, academia has a big role to play in building your career. Still, there are certain practical life lessons too that shape your personality and impact your professional life too and that is what NIT Trichy did for me. The add-ons - clubs, fests, extracurricular, sports, and competitions played an instrumental role in my life and helped with essential soft skills like time management, multi-tasking, and communication. I also got an opportunity to interact and learn about the diverse cultures and backgrounds in NIT Trichy and that helped me with networking skills too.

Define Mindtickle’s impact across the software development space in India. What are the best industry practices and technology trends that you integrate into the products and solutions?
To put it accurately, Mindtickle is riding the SaaS wave in India. SaaS is yet an emerging concept in India and the industry has recently decided to clamp on the opportunity for growth. Mindtickle is an inspiration to many startups by cracking the market for SaaS and being a solutions provider, it is helping them grow in the industry by providing them with constructive opportunities.

AI, ML, and high levels of data security have definitely modified the tech space in the last few years to perfect itself for better outcomes. There are a lot of factors that revolve around product management like the target market identification, research, product
growth model, and most necessarily, the vision. And, there are always some learnings that you can source from great books.

Describe your leadership style and the success mantra that has been helping you arrive at positive outcomes in your professional journey so far.
If you want people to follow, you must lead by example and this has helped me break the inertia along my leadership journey. The success mantra has always been to align the personal priorities of individuals with business objectives and find the perfect balance between them.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
I believe that the journey is more about the milestones than the destination. For some, it may be monetary milestones but for me, it’s the learning experiences and the constant emphasis on skill sets that are the lightning bearers to the learning milestones that I wish to achieve. For instance, I plan to learn more about the key metrics of financials and how to make small adjustments for an impact and their execution.
