Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan
Swachh Bharat Mission, the premier sanitation initiative, was inaugurated on 2 October 2014 and was PM Modi's initial and most prominent campaign after he assumed the role of Prime Minister of India in May 2014. The national initiative focused on eradicating open defecation and enhancing sanitation throughout India. More than 100 million household toilets were built, and over 600,000 villages were proclaimed open defecation-free as part of this initiative.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana
The significant health initiative, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, was inaugurated on 22 September 2018, just a year prior to PM Modi's second term. Also referred to as PM-JAY, it emerged as the largest government-sponsored health care program globally, providing coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family each year.
The program has enabled more than 7 crore complimentary hospital admissions, greatly lowered out-of-pocket costs, and improved access to essential surgeries and therapies. It is also claimed to have propelled India into digital health reforms via the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, generating digital health IDs for millions of people.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
The ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ sought to offer affordable housing to the rural and urban underprivileged as part of the Modi government's "Housing for All" initiative.
The housing program was initiated in June 2015. The recipients were granted financial aid for constructing and acquiring homes. The initiative targeted women and underrepresented communities.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana
The Jan Dhan Yojana is a government initiative in India aimed at promoting financial inclusion for Indian citizens, seeking to enhance accessible financial services like bank accounts, remittances, loans, insurance, and pensions.

Inaugurated on August 28, 2014, the initiative has to date granted millions of unbanked Indians access to banking facilities. This plan ultimately formed the basis of the government's JAM trinity, Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile, which allowed direct disbursement of subsidies and welfare payments without losses.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is the primary social welfare initiative of the Union government. On 1 May 2016, it was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative seeks to offer clean cooking fuel (LPG—Liquefied Petroleum Gas) to impoverished households, particularly in rural regions, to mitigate the health risks associated with cooking using firewood, coal, cow dung, or kerosene. More than 9 crore connections have been allocated to date.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
Inaugurated on 22 January 2015, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) initiative is regarded as one of Prime Minister Modi’s most notable social campaigns.
The initiative focuses on tackling the diminishing child sex ratio, curbing gender-biased sex-selective practices, and fostering the education and empowerment of girls. It united ministries, state administrations, and civil society in a large movement featuring slogans, outreach initiatives, and incentives to promote education for girls.
Throughout the years, the initiative has been recognized for enhancing girls' school enrollment and increasing awareness of gender equality.
Namami Gange Program
The Namami Gange Program commenced in June 2014 as a cohesive conservation initiative aimed at cleaning and revitalizing the Ganga river.
To date, numerous sewage treatment facilities and riverfront initiatives have been approved under this campaign, and the program has been designated as a flagship national mission with specific funding and oversight.

This initiative emphasized wastewater management, environmental protection, and public engagement. It was associated with larger sanitation efforts under Swachh Bharat, with programs such as Gobar Dhan (transforming waste into energy) included.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was initiated by the Union government led by PM Modi on January 22, 2015, as part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative. It is fundamentally a minor savings program intended to ensure the financial stability of the girl child.
The program enables parents or legal guardians to establish a savings account in the name of a female child under the age of 10. The plan provides some of the top interest rates among small savings plans, in addition to income tax advantages under Section 80C.
The money may be allocated for the girl's education and marriage once she reaches 18, promoting lasting financial stability and decreasing reliance on loans or informal lending.
Lakhpati Didi Yojana
The Lakhpati Didi Yojana, a women's empowerment program, was introduced by the Modi administration in August 2023 to improve the earnings of rural women linked to Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The aim of the initiative is to empower a minimum of one crore women to attain “Lakhpati Didis” (making ₹1 lakh or more each year) by providing them with skill enhancement, financial education, and prospects for entrepreneurship in areas such as agriculture, livestock management, handicrafts, and small enterprises.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
The Modi government renamed and reintroduced the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana on 1 January 2017 as a maternity benefit program designed to promote the health and nutrition of women who are pregnant or nursing.
Under the scheme, qualifying women get direct cash payments of Rs.5,000 in installments during pregnancy and after delivery, for their first surviving child. The program was initially initiated in 2010 and rebranded in 2017.
