Remember the times when ‘fitness through Mobile’ was a weird concept? Well those times have clearly changed. According to a report by mobile data and analytics provider App Annie, yesteryear saw about 71,000 new fitness and health apps being launched, which was a 13 percent increase over the year before that. In fact, home fitness has been in our lives for decades, and it has just taken on a new turn since the pandemic forced the gyms & fitness studios around the world to close.
The question remains. What’s the future of gyms and fitness studios? It’s no secret that many of the fitness studios have a mountain to climb. Many of them have redesigned their spaces, turned toward more personal workouts and added online training as well. During the early months of the pandemic, most of the small and independent gyms and studios turned to video platforms in order to conduct Yoga & Pilates classes and training sessions, because it was the only way they could stay in connection with their members. It’s going to be a tough battle. But one thing is clear, fitness freaks are going to go back to the gym eventually.

It will be crucial how gym owners take it forward from here. They might even need to rebuild the market once again. Attractive membership offers and marketing campaigns will also aid towards this cause. The metro cities like Bangalore are already allowing 50 percent capacity at gyms and are planning to allow full capacity without much delay.
