Conquering Experiences Beyond Academics

When I hire fresh talent, something I am always curious to know about is what they learned from their college life apart from academics. Over the years, I have heard some interesting answers and stories that involve friendship, leadership and real social challenges. Students carving experiences out of college education is a priceless outcome, and Christ University in Bangalore seems to have cracked the code to this. Recently, 38 NCC cadets from Christ University Bangalore added an unparalleled experience to their educational journey by scaling an unexplored peak in the Himalayas, reaching an altitude of over 17,000 feet in the Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh. The cadets, representing No 2 Company of the

nine Karnataka and Goa Battalion, were led by Captain Sajina Begum.

The Christ cadets mountaineering expedition started with a specialized 26-day crash course in Manali, which was organized in partnership with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS). However, the story is not over yet. In the aftermath of this successful expedition, Captain Sajina announced plans to summit Mount Yunam at 20,300 feet. The cadets have had an amazing experience with the expedition - some thing that they are going to remember throughout their lives.

On the other hand, Christ University hosted yet another great placement season. D. E. Shaw & Co. offered the highest package of more than INR 15 LPA, equalling the previous year’s top package. Tresvista, a well-known accounting and financial outsourcing company, hired the highest number of students with a head count of 75, while Analyst emerged as the top hiring job role during Christ University placements in 2023. The list of recruiters also included Becton Dickinson, EY GDS, Godrej Properties, and many others.
